Review of Booking.com and Saroja Heritage Hotel, Varanasi
Our experience with Booking.com and Saroja Heritage Hotel in Varanasi was far from pleasant. While the booking process on Booking.com was straightforward, the real nightmare began once we arrived at the property.
We specifically chose the “pay at property” option to ensure flexibility, but Saroja Heritage Hotel cancelled one of our rooms despite confirming the reservation. Their excuse? “It’s our policy that you have to pay.” This is completely unacceptable and a violation of trust. When we reached out to Booking.com for help, they offered no assistance whatsoever, leaving us to deal with the situation on our own.
The problems didn’t end there. One night, the electricity went out, and no one at the reception bothered to answer our calls for help. The lack of basic responsiveness and accountability was appalling.
While the rooms were spacious and comfortable, the overall service was terrible. To make matters worse, there was a wedding on the premises that was so loud it made it impossible to relax or enjoy a peaceful stay. The hotel staff showed no regard for their guests’ comfort.
This experience has been deeply disappointing. I would not recommend Saroja Heritage Hotel to anyone who values peace of mind and good service. Moreover, Booking.com’s lack of intervention and support makes me question whether I can trust their platform in the future.
To the highest authorities at both Booking.com and Saroja Heritage Hotel, I hope this review serves as a wake-up call. Guests expect reliability, respect, and service, none of which were delivered in this case.

The room is spacious, clean and well furnished. I stayed for 2 nights and the breakfast I ordered did not come in this 2 days.

1. Noise till 0330 hrs in the night due to the wedding in adjacent lawns.
2. Food was disaster. Very limited choice, chef really doesn’t have any clue on how to cook a simple veg biryani and tadka dal.
3. very limited choice for breakfast, that too served in room only. No dining facilities as far as restaurant is concerned. No Bar , no non veg meal available.
