View is really nice from here. also mall road is just few steps away so it's better for location wise,

After an initial struggle up the steps, I found the hostel to be in an excellent location.
The dorm rooms are very clean.
The price is unbeatable.
The manager was amazing. He lent me his kettle so that I could make an early morning drink before catching my bus. He was friendly and helpful
There are western and Indian toilets and hot water for showers after 7pm and before 9pm.
The toilets were down the corridor, so may present some difficulty during the night.
Location and reasonable price
Toilets were not clean ,deserted very few people sometimes staff wasn't doing any effort though the rooms and bedsheets were clean and regularly changed
Our stay at YMCA, Shimla was pleasant overall, primarily due to its excellent location — just a short walk from the Mall Road and the city centre. It's ideal for couples who want to explore Shimla on foot, with easy access to eateries, shops, and local sights.
The room was basic but clean, with a cozy ambience suited to the hill station setting. While the bed was comfortable and the surroundings peaceful, a couple of essentials were missing — no towels were provided, and the property does not have an in-house restaurant, which could be inconvenient for some. However, since Mall Road is so close, good food options are easily accessible.
The staff were polite and helpful, and the check-in/check-out process was smooth. Hot water was available, though it took a little time to come on, which is understandable given the climate.
YMCA isn’t a luxury property, but for the price and prime location, it’s a great budget-friendly option for couples looking for a simple stay with all the basics in place. A few small improvements could make it even better.
