It is a delightful heritage property in a rural village location. I loved walking round the village, everyone was so friendly and keen for you to take photographs. There’s a lake with lots of birdlife including painted storks. The home cooked food was delicious. I participated in several activities… the bullock cart ride, birdwatching, massage …and enjoyed them all.
I thought the pricing point was a little high for the room we had
Breakfast was perfect, you could order what you want. There was always fresh fruit, coffee and tea.
It is an old fort/palace turned into a hotel. Very authentic. The village is small and very rural but really nice. They have all kinds of activities if you want like massage, ox-cart ride through the village, birdwatching, henna-painting. I wandered off by myself through the village and met a lot of nice people willing to be photographed!
Perfect stop away from the crowds! We stayed 1 night, could easily have stayed another night!

We wanted an escape from the hustle and bustle of touring and Fort Barli did not disappoint. Divyraj and his wife have created a comfortable and very personal hotel experience catering for exactly that. The owners are very friendly and approachable and their dog Blue is adorable. In Kesar and their staff they look after you from the moment you arrive and Divyraj contacts you prior to your stay to ensure a smooth arrival. Thanks to Kesar for looking after us. Our room was a suite and it was large and spacious and very comfortable. This is a heritage property and not blingy or ultra modern but that is the properties charm. There is a large dining room for meals and breakfast was a buffet with hot food provided and cooked to order, dinner was also a buffet. Drinks were at 7pm which allowed you to chat with other guests before dinner. We would have preferred communal dining but I do understand that it’s not everyone’s preference. As we stayed three nights our final night was private dining in the courtyard outside our room which was very thoughtful and very nice. The pool is a nice size but I think the area could be improved. When you have not so nice or a good experience in other properties on your travels you realise and value the hospitality that you have been shown and given by Divyraj, his wife and team. Nothing is too much trouble and that is priceless.
The pool area is a little uninspiring and just needs brightening up. One of the sunbeds was broken.
The dining area was a big space but at night it was quite dark which made it gloomy. Candles or the LED lights provided for private dining would provide light and a warmth perhaps the dining room lacked.
The location was perfect after we had just spent a week in some of India's busiest cities. This beautiful heritage hotel gave us the opportunity to relax and recharge our batteries before continuing our journey. The staff here were outstanding and the owners were always present and ready to help.
Very well kept heritage property. Oozing history and tradition. Managed and run the ancient ruling family who interact with all guests and make you feel completely at home. The rooms are well appointed and beautifully decorated.

We had a wonderful stay at fort barli. Its location is very peaceful and for us it was a wonderful break from our largely urban tour of Rajasthan. The staff are wonderful and the food was some of the best we had in our 2 and 1/2 weeks in India. If you are thinking of staying here, don't hesitate, you won't regret it!

I loved everything at Fort Barli. The charming hosts, the wonderful staff, the fabulous room and the food which was delicious. The fort and its history, so interesting and a great place to relax by the pool and enjoy the sounds of nature and village life. This was my second stay and definitely not my last. Highly recommend.
