Beautiful hotel!!! The breakfast setting on the ground floor terrace by the lake was stunning and probably offered the best views in Udaipur. They also had two other restaurants (same menu), both offering rooftop views.
NOTE the main upper rooftop section is open on weekends only (we visited in April). There is a surcharge of 2000 rupees for a table immediately next to the lake, but this can be redeemed against your meal.
The reception staff were fantastic, as we had requested to move rooms ( we were initially given a standard double in the new construction area which we didn't want), so the day after, the staff moved us to the beautiful heritage section of the hotel and upgraded our room for free.
The pool area was lovely too and there were enough sunbeds and shade.
Restaurant staff - Sometimes the restaurant servers were confused or lacking training. Their service levels were a bit up and down, sometimes friendly and good spoken English, other times they ignored you, some servers could not speak English too.
Pool area service - it was difficult to find a server to order drinks, get a menu or get a towel.
Superb location on Lake Pichola. Stunning heritage hotel with beautiful, comfortable accommodation overlooking gardens and a small pool. Delicious food ( breakfast and evening meals) in a restaurant overlooking the lake - a beautiful roof terrace/ restaurant was also available. Perfectly positioned to see the sunset. Very friendly and helpful staff who made our stay all the more enjoyable.
Nothing
The location by the lake is lovely. The general areas of the haveli are lovely, with attractive gardens and pool, and the restaurant is very good. On check out the reception kindly organised a tuk tuk to a paling area where it was easy to access taxi and uber.
Check in was not very welcoming, although we were pleased to be able to check in an hour early. Getting to the property was tricky due to road congestion in the vicinity, which also made walking challenging at times. The room had lovely features but there was nowhere to hang clothes, electrical sockets and light switches were dodgy and the bathroom was in need of refurbishment.
Very clean
I’ve stayed previously and had a wonderful time, but was saddened this time to find staff attitudes have changed for the worse. The introduction of an upstairs veranda restaurant and an inexperience young door person at the entry to the dining areas seemed to be where the attitudes were worst. The established staff in the lower restaurant were still as wonderful as ever. I had a wonderful stay otherwise but the upsetting rudeness was unexpected and left a bad feeling about the overall experience. The lake outside was a lot dirtier too which was sad to see.
The rooms felt like servant quarters. There is construction work going on at the property. We were given rooms in between the debris. It did not feel like a we were staying in a heritage property. It felt more like we were staying at a construction site.
We loved everything about this place. The hotel is stunning with lovely bedrooms and an incredible breakfast restaurant next to the lake. The location is perfect, away from the noise, yet close enough to several other beautiful places to eat and drink.
There was a bit of building work going on that made some parts look untidy, but I'm really being picky to even bring it up. The bed could have been better, but again this is picky of me.
Fantastic location with unmatched views of the lake. Very nice rooms.
The property is in a fantastic location with a beautiful lake terrace for breakfasts and dinner. The view and property itself are incredible.
What lets the hotel down is the exceptionally poor staff and customer service. We found most of the staff really unwelcoming, bordering on rude to us during our stay.
On the whole, each service listed as included (travel booking, tickets, laundry, etc) is lacking or simply not conducted by the staff. Not one member of staff was able or willing to help with any request throughout our entire stay. We asked for help with booking train tickets on 3 separate occasions and were told they would ‘let us know’. The dinner we booked on our final night as a special occasion with views over the late and city of Udaipur was ruined by the staff not honouring our booked time or table and being bounced around table to table as the restaurant prioritised people walking in over paying hotel guests.
As a final note, if you do stay, expect your experience eating or drinking on the terrace restaurant to be marred by a consistent, almost ludicrous, number of people conducting photo shoots of the view around your table. And the staff do nothing to stop it.
We flagged all of this as we checked out and we were met with vacant faces and zero apologies. Not to mention they were quick to hurry our check out, phoning up before the check out time to ensure we were leaving and collect any final bills before letting us leave.
The hotel is wonderful; the photos accurately reflect its facilities, the location is amazing, the staff service is excellent, and the cleanliness is outstanding. The hotel is in the old town, among small streets, so it’s essential to coordinate transportation with the hotel—they have an authorized access route that regular Uber or tuk-tuk drivers are not familiar with.
Transport can be tricky to access, so I’d recommend the hotel clearly advise arranging their pickup service in advance.
Emplacement parfait. Vue magnifique depuis notre chambre
La terrasse du restaurant est hyper agréable.
La piscine petite mais suffisante.
