Breakfast and the staff were amazing and great. Everyone was very welcoming including manager, kitchen , security etc. I was very impressed by the conduct of all staff members. Place is very authentic, despite renovation. Give a real feeling of 19th century. Loved it
No WiFi. TV did not work. No telephone in the room to talk to kitchen or reception. AC made a noise but got fixed quickly. Flushing mechanism in toilet was broken.
We were the only guests & were given an upgrade to a suite which was a lovely surprise.
The hotel is in an old fort complex & has an excellent museum which the manager kindly showed us through.
The building itself is historic & has huge potential. The gardens are beautiful & full of birds & squirrels.
Walking around the castle walls at sunset was very special
The hotel was difficult to find as the directions on the website are incorrect & Google maps takes you to an old cement works! Whilst only about 18km from Jaipur, it took us nearly an hour to travel from there to the hotel in a car due to the perpetual traffic. Once at the hotel, it was not really feasible for us to travel back in to Jaipur for sightseeing.
Whilst our room was large, it had been poorly cleaned. The shower drain was full of hair & the bath still had a dirty ring around it.
The advertised TV did not work, so there were no cable channels available, but you had to pay for them anyway.
We had no hot water in the shower the first evening, but it did work the next day. We also had 2 bottles of water brought to our room, (which in every other hotel and havali we had stayed at was complimentary). However, we later found out we had to pay for these.
We were told by the head waiter that afternoon tea ( potato crisps, masala tea & Indian savoury pastry) was complimentary, but were presented with a bill for this at check out. When questioned about this, he very reluctantly cancelled the charge.
Despite the same waiter assuring us that the hotel had a bar & that we would be able to order a beer, there is no bar & no price list for drinks. We were charged 1600 INR for 2 small bottles of beer & a gin & tonic - we also had to pay extra for the tonic . When we asked for a receipt, the waiter said this was not possible as the hotel was unlicensed.
The next day we bought 2 large bottles of the same beer for 340 INR at the nearby bottle shop. When we asked the same waiter why his prices were so high, he stated " all hotels do this" , but we did NOT experience this anywhere else in India. Such blatant profiteering was really not appreciated & we felt very let down by the whole experience.
The hotel was very clean and well kept with plenty of information and interesting historical items.
The staff and dinner were amazing and I would love to return to this hotel
Breakfast was a bit lacking in choice and unclear on what to, however everything else made up for this
Amazing food, homemade with best quality
NA
The ambience of this place is amazing with its beautiful, historic buildings and amazing, bird filled gardens. The staff were all wonderful and the family that owns the palace very welcoming and hospitable. Food was good and the swimming pool great.
Location, and ambiance, property is beautiful
Too overpriced for the services offered. We were charged as per the ala-carte half board menu. But food options were very limited. Did not justify the price we paid. Price of bottle was too beyond MRP. 5% extra charge was levied over and above the tax we paid through bookings.
We like the family foremost.
The location
The accommodation
The museum
The dogs especially La doux
