Luxurious, needs significant improvements to justify the price.

The facilities, the views, the breakfast, and the sea were all world-class.

Cons:

However, the staff have a lot of work to do when it comes to service. Very few employees smiled or made guests feel welcome, whether at the restaurants or the reception. The housekeeping staff and one of the bartenders were the exceptions and provided excellent service.

We booked half board, but the restaurants seemed unaware of this. Every evening they had to call the reception to confirm our package, which sometimes took up to 40 minutes. Dinner was also limited to €40 per person, and anything above that had to be paid separately. This should have been communicated clearly before booking.

There is no gym.

The dinner restaurants were disappointing. The food lacked flavor, and several dishes we ordered were consistently forgotten.

As an experienced traveler, I can say that for a five-star luxury hotel, it simply does not live up to its price point.

Great fun, wonderful memories, a really lovely place to stay. Will go back.
Pros:

The Hotel looked very classy, the beach and pool area was very clean, nice looking and comfortable. The hospitality staff were really friendly and helpful.
The food was really tasty and there was a nice selection to chose from.
The entertainment was good and enjoyed by all.
The room was comfortable with plenty of room for personal belongings to be stored away.

Cons:

The check in process was not good. We were not aware a cash deposit would be required and as nowadays most of us travel with credit or debit cards it was a struggle to rustle together the deposit.
I booked our rooms last year and therefore didn't expect there to be a problem in having four together or at least on the same level.
There was a horrible drain smell coming from our bathroom sink.
We were not left with refreshed bottles of water.
The hotel should take a credit card so that after check out, if anything has been taken from the mini bar it can be charged to the account rather than having to wait for someone to check the contents.

Pros:

We absolutely loved our stay at Folie Marine Resort and it was one of the highlights of our trip to the Albanian Riviera.

From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our request for a room with a double bed and a sofa bed at no extra cost. Everyone worked incredibly hard throughout our stay, and the housekeeping team did a fantastic job.

The breakfast was honestly one of the best we've had at any hotel—so much choice, fresh local produce and stunning views while you eat. It was the perfect way to start each day.

The private beach was beautiful, with allocated sunbeds, umbrellas and beach towels included, so there was never any need to rush down to claim a spot. The pool area was equally lovely, peaceful and never felt overcrowded. We spent hours relaxing between the pool and the sea, enjoying the incredible views across Jale Bay.

There are quite a few steps around the resort, but we didn't mind at all—it helped burn off all the delicious food and drinks! There are also lifts available if you prefer not to use the stairs.

We chose to walk to the nearby local bars and restaurants each evening as it suited our budget, and there were plenty of great options within walking distance. If your budget allows, the resort itself also offers beautiful dining and drinks in an amazing setting.

After visiting both Dhërmi and Himarë, we were so pleased we chose Jale. It felt quieter, more peaceful and less commercial, making it the perfect place to unwind while still enjoying one of the most beautiful beaches in Albania.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Cons:

It's worth mentioning that there is quite a bit of development happening in the surrounding area at the moment. While it doesn't look the prettiest if you turn away from the sea, the construction noise never affected our time relaxing by the beach or swimming in the crystal-clear water.
