Everything but the pillows
The pillows it needs new ones. Even if you could rent some better pillows when you were stopping there would help
Good location and awesome staff. Cool little room
Cold shower in the morning, walls extremely thin, music in the pub carries through, tea/coffee/loo roll etc was not stocked up during our stay. Uncomfortable pillows and the bathroom is so close to the bed, there is nit much privacy
Came for our 5th anniversary and really enjoyed it. Lovely stay, beautiful room, extremely clean and great staff on the bar downstairs with great entertainment. Brilliant weekend! Thank you ☺️
The staff are lovely, couldn't do enough for us. We had booked as we were going to see the Booze Brothers, who were excellent as usual, we had the added bonus of dropping on another act, 2 young fellows who normally perform with The Echoes UK. 2 for the price of 1, both amazing.
Dylan, who was on bar duty on Sunday night, worked like a trojan, he was on his own, the bar was quite busy, but he managed to keep the drinks flowing.
The room was perfectly adequate, the roll top bath was very sumptuous, we had a really good sleep, we had booked bed and breakfast, which was freshly cooked to order. We'll be back.
The only things we didn't like were the short window of having to have breakfast between 9 and 9.30 and then having to be out of our room by 10am.
Visit when in York not now living in the city had been in a few weeks ago for a ceremony at the nearby Register Office. Always good and friendly. Have recommended to many who report they like it's letting rooms and it's staff. I like for the beer and atmophere especially after visiting my nearby chiropractor. Same atmosphere as when I lived nearby decades ago!
The staff were friendly and helpful and the room had a nice feeling to it. Would go again due to the great location.
Visited twice during our York visit - Friday and Saturday evenings. Live band both evenings. Very busy, mostly locals but welcoming.

Rooms are very small a we had a lot of mould in the shower room and damp patches under the window. Value for money was poor.
The location is perfect and the staff pleasant. The room (the Minster) was decorated in an appropriate style which was nice and the room was comfortable enough.
I would have hoped for a bit more for the price. In particular, though this didn't concern me, half an hour for breakfast between 9 and 9.30 seems pretty mean.

Didn't like how they change £10 to store our bags.never had that ever before it's always free .
Just what we were looking for, a place where you get to meet the locals, have entertainment (a live band on Fridays) and be close to the city centre. The bar staff were very welcoming and friendly, and we had a great time getting to know them and the locals. The room was lovely and the bed was comfy and instead of room numbers the rooms are named, ours was called 'The Grand Old Duke of York'. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for the same things as us. We had an amazing time here, thank you and hopefully we will be back in the future.

There was no heating on at night or morning. On arrival the barman was unfriendly and wouldn’t let us leave our bag there. Had to pa £8 at the luggage drop. Black mould on the bedroom wall. No hot water in the morning
