A bit dated

The registration process failed. I was supposed to receive an email with entry details but no email arrived. After contacting security and waiting 5 minutes I was given this information by phone.

Bathroom was dated but clean

Not enough beds

The fact its staffless is efficient but someone threw up in the main lobby which was pretty gross considering noone was there to clear it up. No lift access which is a bit annoying if you're staying to exhibit at the show and don't want to leave items in the car overnight. Water pressure in the shower may as well have been a trickle.

The bath screen would not stay in place when you had a shower, so some of the water dripped down the screen onto the floor when showering. A slip hazard if you didn’t spot it. It just needs a repair.

No staff at all on site, room book stated that coffee, tea, milk etc were available in a basket in reception if missing in our rooms, but only enough spare milk for 1 person and 1 drink, needs to be more in rooms, also as a non hot drink drinker, I would love for once for there to be a drink for non-hot drink drinkers - a bottle of water or soft drink would be ideal.

Couldn’t sleep due to light through the curtains. We use blackout curtains at home so my grandson wouldn’t sleep due to this. I suggest blackout blinds or curtains for more comfort.

There was also vomit in the reception area in the evening that was still there in the morning when we left.

Breakfast also it needs a bit of a revamp

Middle of a heatwave & no aircon/useful fans

Decor was very dated & tired looking. One of the wall lights flickered when switched on which was quickly switched back off in room 1.

Completely appalling communication, phone number does not work (called >20 times) probably as there is no receptionist. 8 or so messages sent via email or booking.com not read or replied to. I wanted to see if I could arrange early check in. Request finally responded to after automatic confirmation given and cancellation period passed, saying early check in not possible….really poor communication.

Room extremely old and tired, cross between a care home and a sixth form centre…..

Very basic.

The location of the lodge we got lost, I didn’t know that we’d have to enter the horse racing site. On the GPS it only shows a road that was gated and was not able to enter that way. The rooms were good but found a dead fly on the window sill, there was no hot water in the shower or tap water, but it was a heatwave at the time so I’m not complaining. Another thing they could improve on is that they could keep a vending machine in the lobby area with snacks drinks water. Because the kitchen is closed at night and I didn’t know where to find water apart from go all the way back into town to buy water.
