One of the quirkiest and most entertaining accommodation I've ever seen. There's so much to look at in the area around and inside the hotel itself. The rooms were delightful, and the staff were super-accommodating
Unique property.Enjoyed our overnight stay in this historic hotel. Great to get breakfast and the massage chair was a bonus.
Bedding, pillows, towels needed to be hotel quality
Great hotel—amazing staff, a clean and well-maintained room, and a beautiful location. The hotel’s restaurant is also really good!
This places is so cool. If you mimicking it's era this place depicts it all. The place felt very relaxed and comfortable.
It could have been cleaner but it wasn't dirty. I think the running of the place just needs more caring and detailed hands.💜
It is a unique accommodation experience, the hosts are exceptional
Great fun and in a lovely position in the little village of Otira. The inn was very eclectic/quirky but great fun! Bar, pub food, pool table, tv lounge, sauna! What’s not to like!
We were surprised and delighted by the eclectic nature of the hotel. The host greeted us and gave us some brief histories along the way while showing us to our room. It was a pleasure talking with him! The food was wonderful and they kindly let us fill our water bottles up at the outside tap. We suggested they create a scavenger hunt or two for people to go through as they visit or wait for their food.
I read the mixed reviews so I was a bit worried but I’m not sure who doesn’t love this place. It was such a unique and beautiful experience. The place is a museum, the room was very comfortable and clean, and the owner was very friendly and sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and his patience with me explaining the place and the art/furniture throughout the hotel. I especially enjoyed the fireplace in the lobby, where I could drink my tea and relax after a long day of hiking in the region. For dinner I went to a different place, about 10km south of this place so I can’t comment on the food.
Nothing
We have stayed before last time in NZ, and as it was on our route this time we just had to stay again - our favourite querky hotel and again it did not disappoint. Tash our host was very helpful and friendly which added to the experience
Oddly excellent all round, probably not for everyone but it has to be seen and tried.
