A means to an end while traveling south from Scotland and the Lakes.
Pros:

Now 50yrs old but in an excellent location for traveling on the West Coast of the UK.
Lovely views across the Cumbrian moorlands.

Cons:

Have stayed a few times before. Now looking a bit tired and lack of investment in modern technology like electrical socket points with older USB charging points rather than the new standard of USBC points.
Restaurant food good, but overpriced. Alcoholic drinks exorbitantly expensive and obviously part of the business plan to increase margins with a captive audience.
The nice touches that were present when first opened have now gone.

A great overnight stop on our journey north, such nice staff and good food. Perfect.
Pros:

The staff were consistently kind and friendly. Great rooms. Very easy to have the dog there. Delicious food. I thought it was an excellent overnight stop for our journey north.

Cons:

There was an enormous area of bird shit on the front doorstep which meant only the left side of the entrance could be used.
The table tops were unpleasantly sticky due to the volume of hygienic spray being used. At both dinner and breakfast - at different tables - the table tops were completely sticky all over. I have not come across this at any other hotel I have stayed in.
