Very comfortable, had a good night's sleep after a long drive.
One receptionist was quite grumpy but all the other staff were very good.
Lounge to sit and relax after the meal. Ease of hotel near motorway but peaceful setting
Needed more choice with evening meal menu
V G dinner
Nothing
The rooms are comfortable, clean and well appointed - also dog friendly which is our main reason for booking. The farm shop is well stocked and very convenient for stocking up a holiday house if necessary.
We have been staying here en route to and from Scotland for about 20 years and always enjoyed the stop. I think it has become the victim of its own success, the farm-shop is now super over-crowded, and on this occasion there was no food available in the restaurant or bar unless you had booked beforehand. On a very long journey, especially involving the M6, having a booking time adds an extra element of stress, but this has been the policy since Covid, I assume because of staff shortages. Arriving after a long journey to be given the news there is no food available one might expect a little regret from the member of staff delivering the information but this was not the case. Possibly we were just unlucky but not sure we will continue to use the hotel.
After 6 hours drive it was a high class relaxing environment
Friendly welcome
Spacious airy rooms
Delicious and ample breakfast
Chain saw in grounds outside outside before 8am was understandable given the ongoing heatwave but not that conducive to relaxed awakening
Good choice. Interesting menu with great quality. Buffet breakfast choices excellent.
Checkout staff cool compared to the rest of the stay where staff were friendly and efficient.
Very handy as a motorway overnight stop on a longer journey plus it has a peaceful feel of being out in the country. Very good dinner menu.
Nothing really, but some parts of the accommodation could benefit from some redecoration eg bathroom.
