We needed to leave really early and as breakfast was only being served later, the staff made arrangements to get in earlier to serve us breakfast. The staff were amazing and so accommodating.
Tranquil and peaceful country ambiance. Very friendly hosts
Na
A bit more variety on the breakfast menu would be appreciated.
Alternatives for bacon. Mini breakfast buffer eg croissants or pastries.
Views were spectacular, nice room with fire place.
Not much except the road leading to property and we all whose fault that is.
Absolutely beautiful. The owner is friendly and accommodating.
Meals excellent
Concern about large branch leaning over SC 1 from the Owners house. Branch rotten.
Excellent service, good food, good location
I booked a room with a shower. There was a bath with a hand held shower. That eas not specified. The bath is curved and there are no grab handles on the wall. Dangerous for a senior with knee problems. We heard younger folk also complaining about no grab handles in their bathrooms
Location and breakfast menu were 10/10!
We spent time on Curry’s Post road going Fable, Terbadore and The Salt Slab, highly recommend all 3 as a fabulous alternative to the standard Nottingham Rd meander which has become quite commercial.
The room decor is quite dated (Lake chalet 2), clean and well maintained but curtains and TV could definitely do with an upgrade.
We ordered eggs benidict, and an avo and egg breakfast. Both were nicely presented and tasty but consisted of only 1 tiny piece of toast with 2 eggs on top. Jam and butter was supplied but there was no side toast to put it on! Pleasant friendly staff. Peaceful surrounds with views of lawns, trees and hills.
The place is run down, dark and very outdated, without enhancing the beautiful old charactor of the building. We would have loved to sit at a character pub, but it was very uninviting so we passed on that. The room was large, dark and very badly appointed. No decor as such. The TV was half in the entrance and not where you sit. Huge built in cupboards and storage areas that are useless for a short stay. It looked like furniture was just put there to make do. It was dull and univiting with very old brown and marked carpets. Bathroom was cold and dark and too large. The windows were difficult to open as they were falling off their hinges. Veranda chairs and table were dark brown painted plastic chairs that were peeling. Very unappealing to sit on.
clean and pleasant, stunning views of the Midlands
Everything about the location, which was fabulous, the history of the buildings and the country lodge ambiance. Loved visiting the Retired Horse part of the farm, thsnks to Jane for a lovely tour!
We were really looking forward to the Eggs Benedict breskfast, but unfortunately despite being asked for our preference in poached eggs (medium) both plates and 4 eggs were hard. One egg had a large piece of shell within. The Hollandaise sauce was not great… there was another large table concurrently with ours, which could explain our “less than” experience, sadly.
