Very nice pool and rooms. Perfect location with direct access to the beach. Good spot to relax! The hotel organizes also a lot of activities.

In my youth I spent many a New Years Eve celebration at what the locals have always known as 'Open Shorts'! This has always been the coastal bastion for so many locals throughout the land who trek here every year and many expats regularly return from shores so very far away (in our case from the tropical East coast of Australia!). Ocean Sports and Watamu have changed so much in the decades since I was here last. So little in this world seems to get better than one remembers it. One exception is this hotel- what HAS changed here has simply made a good thing better. The bar area, adorned in game fishing casts and the same old fishing boat are just as they were many years past. The rooms have not changed much at all over the years but, as with everything else, they are meticulously maintained. They are perfectly comfortable, if perhaps compact and cosy. The a/c works just fine, the shower is great, there is no TV (yay!). There are coffee and tea making facilities but no fridge. The ever-so popular restaurant is regularly packed with live-in guests and local Watamu residents. I’ll bet they have held a Sunday curry buffet for ever? The food and its service are absolutely first rate. You’d want to book. The swimming pool and its surrounds, including swim-up bar, are sensational. I have never known a pool like it. The image of a pool shown when opening the Ocean Sports TripAdvisor page shows the OLD pool- not what it is now. The Valentine’s Day dinner held by the pool was superb- I have never seen barbecued prawns which were as big and succulent as the lobsters being served. I, and my family, cannot wait to spend another 30 hours traveling across our continent and the Indian Ocean to resume the pilgrimage.
Perfect place for our 1st night in Kenya: warm welcome at reception, friendly smiling staff, comfortable room, romantic walk along the beach at sunset, delicious dinner looking out over the sea, good night's sleep and a delicious buffet breakfast with plenty of fresh local fruit.

Whlst its a very relaxed atmosphere, so females that went into eat wearing skant swim wear was a bit off putting and not acceptable.

We have been coming to Ocean sports for about 40 years. We love the beautiful beach at Watamu and the ‘club’ atmosphere of Ocean sports. The rooms are simple but have everything you need.
The main reception/bar/dining area are open plan, the deck is a charming spot for meals or drinks.
The staff are really excellent, whether waiters or the pool attendants. The gardens are pretty, if anything they need to be cut back a bit so residents can see the sea from their rooms.
The new pool is gorgeous but my big complaint is there are no hand rails to help you get in and out of the pool. That simple fact, sadly would put me off staying again despite pool staff being around to help.

Was all good. I would say the room we were in this time was an upgrade from our previous visit.
Priority goes to white people my Africans this isn’t the place for us at all from the groundsmen to the managers in the restaurants only the receptionist and guards are nice
