Glendale Hotel

I stayed in room 16,
The mattress on the bed had big dips in it, one was so big I kept rolling into it, needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep,
That mattress needs to be changed!!

Where do I begin? Noting that it is a 2 star hotel it is never going to have air con but given it was a low 30s weekend in Cardiff they could have at least had a fan in the room as a standalone fan. When I booked the room I did not know it wasn't going to be a private room but a separate bathroom for my private use which you know again with the tradition I didn't mind the idea at first but then the quirkiness of it all wore pretty thin once you walked on the tiles which felt like they could give way at any stage and then you had the taps for the shower which were almost impossible to work to get consistent hot water. Also even with the heat the bed was incredibly uncomfortable to sleep on and again for a 2 star hotel (which does have a good rating on Booking.com) you expect better.

Parking was a pain.
The pipes in the room made an horrendous noise. Luckily I had some ear plugs for my site visit or I don’t think I would have slept.
Room generally tired and things hanging a bit.
Kettle was yellow and too big to fill with water from the sink.

I have tried contacting the hotel a number of times about my terrible experience and no one replied.

I am not a sensitive sleeper which makes me all the more disappointed to report such an unfortunate experience in your hotel.

The pipes in your bathrooms. In room 11 they were so noisy and kept me awake for an hour and a half before I eventually went to find a member of staff. Of course the volume was then reduced but the member of staff told me he could still hear the pipes, and moved me to room 21, reassuring me that the plumber would come and look at another time.
The bed was not made in room 21 so I had to head back to reception to get sheets and make my bed. The same member of staff was very apologetic but it’s really not good enough.
The bed in room 21 was so lumpy and soft that I kept falling out whenever I turned over. If you do not believe me, I would encourage you to spend the night in that bed and check your quality of sleep.
On the same floor there is a noisy toilet and every time it was used throughout the night it woke me up. Not just the toilet flushing, but the noisy pipes and then the people talking, snoring and even the bed springs of people getting into bed.
Neither bedroom looked anything like the room on your website leaving me to double check my booking. I appreciate working in the world of online marketing that your best room is going to be advertised, but I could find no evidence online of the two single rooms I saw, which I believe to be false advertising.
The rooms are poorly insulated and heating was off all night. Luckily I had packed a hot water bottle but I was shivering all night. There were no extra blankets available in the room
The bed frame was so old and the pillows so thin that I could not sit up in bed with the pillows behind me, as they kept disappearing down the side of the bed. This made for an uncomfortable experience all round.

Dust on all over the wardrobes, the bed rails, the tables and toilets. Multiple broken things as well, and the bed was very uncomfortable.

Separate, though private bathroom.
