Excellent location right on doorstep of Cathedral. I was on the 5th/top floor which I think has only 2 or max 3 rooms,this is where the sun terrace is so I felt like I had it all to myself mostly! Huge room. I requested a room with a fridge & they obliged me. Handy to store your water on a hot day. Air con really good. Balcony decent size. Continental breakfast was decent.

Cons:

The bed was very hard so I had back ache throughout my stay, but someone else might live a firm mattress so that was just down to preference. Slight drain smell nearer to balcony door side but not desperate. Nothing else bad to say, thoroughly enjoyed it.

"Ab auf die Insel" tut gut, lädt aber nicht zum Bleiben.
Pros:

Terrasse mit Aussicht auf den Vorplatz der Kathedrale und die vielen Menschen in den sich kreuzenden Geschäftsstrassen, das Einkaufen "gleich um die Ecke", die grosse Auswahl an Restaurants, der nahe kleine Gemeindepark, die nahe Uferpromenade. Das Schönste: die Schatten spendenden uralten, riesigen Alleebäume, viele davon in voller Mai-Blüte.

Cons:

1. Fürchterliche Zersiedelung der Landschaft rund um Funchal. Abenteuerliche Bauten kleben an Felsen und reiten auf Kämmen.
2. Funchal hat keinen zentralen "Busbahnhof". Eine Grossveranstaltung mit Strassensperrungen ĂĽber Pfingsten brachte Verschiebungen der Abfahrtsorte und -Routen, was gerade mal den Taxifahrern zugute kam.

Nice hotel for a city break
Pros:

Location was excellent, beds comfortable and room spacious. Balcony lovely to look out , and sitting on the terrace , very cosy and quiet, perfect for relaxing city break , there was a fridge in the room, and lots of space on the wardrobe, staff was fabulous - very helpful

Cons:

We found it hard to find at first, as the name over the entry isnt very clear - its a handwritten Hcathedral on the facade in between the shops - just facing the actual Cathedral. It's a little outdated, but we didn't mind that, the shower is in the bath with a curtin and the handle had to be put back in place as kept falling , but shower itself was good and strong when it stayed in place, the breakfast was ok - typical continental with some scrambled eggs , so something to pick on for anyone , there was nothing we didn't like really

SĂ©jour enchanteur de 2 nuits !
Pros:

Nous avons passé 2 nuits formidables dans cet hébergement paisible et joliment décoré. Le couple d'hôtes est adorable, avec un sens de l'accueil exceptionnel : toujours aux petits soins tout en restant très discrets.
Le petit-déjeuner était incroyable – copieux, composé uniquement de produits frais et locaux d'excellente qualité.
L'endroit est bien équipé, avec café et thé disponibles en permanence.
Une expérience à renouveler absolument ! 10/10

Good hotel, great location
Pros:

Superb location. Good sized room (superior with balcony), very clean, comfortable beds. Good breakfast.

Cons:

The entrance is hard to locate, especially when driving - could do with better directions. The same is true for the car park. Both require much negotiation around Funchal's one-way roads.

Pros:

Emplacement idéal pour un séjour en ville (accès aux musées). Hotel tenu avec beaucoup de professionnalisme et d'amabilité par la gérante (qui parle français). Nous recommendons.

Cons:

Bruit de climatisation venant de l'immeuble voisin sur l'arrière de l'hôtel. Mais ça, l'hôtel n'y est pour rien.

Pros:

Très bon emplacement au cœur de la vieille ville et non loin de l'océan. Le personnel est très accueillant. Nous avions une chambre avec petit balcon ce qui l'a rendait attractive. La décoration est sombre et un peu vieillotte. La literie est confortable. Les rideaux ne sont pas très faciles à ouvrir (le système est bien usé, peut-être à changer...). Le stationnement (situé dans une cour à 5/10 minutes de marche) est un vrai plus. Nous avons aimé le petit déjeuner qui est suffisamment varié sans être gastronomique quoique les petites pâtisseries portugaises font parties des meilleures que j'ai mangé à Madère. Je vous recommande l'adresse pour une ou deux nuits si vous avez envie d'être dans une ambiance de vacances un peu plus animée que dans les montagnes.

Cons:

Le côté un peu sombre des couleurs dans la chambre et la salle de petit déjeuner.
