I wish we had stayed longer. This is a wonderful location. And you can’t get a better view.

Close to the train station (right across the bridge), water view with a small balcony, directly over a VERY active restaurant/pub.

Cons:

Over a VERY active restaurant/pub. We put the white noise machine on to fall asleep…not a problem unless you are a very light sleeper. Our room was booked last minute, so accomodations given were over the pub and room was on first floor. The pub is at basement level. The white noise machine did the trick to mute noise... mostly coming from outside the pub. We appreciated that the staff took up the outside tables/chairs early in the evening which reduced patrons from gathering outside and making more noise. When we arrived at 8:00 pm’ish, we had to check in AT the BAR of the PUB to get our ROOM KEYS. The bartender walked us to the room and made us feel welcome and safe. Checking in to a hotel via a bar/pub was interesting…that was a little crazy at first - but funny. We didn’t mind it…just different!

I had a really wonderful stay at Hotel Mr. Pickwick. The location in the Altstadt is great just a short walk from the railway station. Check-in at the bar was friendly and welcoming.

I stayed in a single room on the fourth floor. The room is basic but it has everything you need (even a small refrigerator) and is smartly laid out. The bed is comfortable although a bit short. From my room, I probably had one of the best views of Luzern, right by the Chapel Bridge.

In previous reviews there were some concerns about noise. I had no issues at all as I was on a higher floor and the weather wasn’t warm enough for late-night terrace activity.

Overall, I had a fantastic stay for the price. Hotel Mr Pickwick is excellent value for money in expensive Luzern and I would definitely stay here again when traveling solo.
