Baltistan Fort Skardu Resort

A cosy guesthouse with a beautiful view of the valley. We enjoyed the kitchen, Balti dishes were tasty. The peaceful view from the windows was very relaxing after the dusty Skardu.

I love the traditional construction style of the resort.

Our visit was spectacular. We stayed for two nights. The owner made it an unforgettable experience: he so kindly picked us up from the airport, made a wonderful 2 day travel itinerary for us, and shared lovely stories over tea. The rooms were clean, we had a lovely balcony, and absolutely gorgeous views!

The view is among one of the bests even better than Shangrilla resort. But what tops the view is the people. The owner is a super kind guy and makes you feel at home. It was supposed to be a random hotel stay but we left with a homely feeling. We definitely received more value than we paid for. Any problem we had was resolved on a moments notice, be it hotel related or even anything non hotel related like getting a sim etc.

Rashid bhai(owner) is one of the best hosts i have experienced till date. He went out of his way to make us feel at home and to give a traditional Baltistan experience. Complimentary services got to a point that we felt that we are not paying enough for the value we are getting. Rashid bhai has lived an interesting life, do not miss out on his cool stories.

The location, where you can see the desert, lake, river, glacier all in one place. The host himself is really helpful, the property is nice and has been creatively well thought of.

I had an amazing stay at Baltistan Fort Hotel. The staff truly went above and beyond to make my visit comfortable and memorable. From check-in to check-out, they were warm, professional, and always ready to help with anything I needed.

The hotel beautifully combines traditional Balti architecture with modern comfort. My room was spotless, spacious, and offered incredible views of the surrounding mountains — waking up to that scenery was unforgettable.

The location is perfect for exploring Skardu and nearby attractions. Whether it was arranging transport or offering local tips, the staff made everything easy and stress-free. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the region.

Baltistan Fort , Skardu is situated amongst the Himaliyas, Karakorum mountain range and River Indus..
Cooperative staff, traditional rooms, reasonable Wifi, perfect blend of Italian tiles and local stone with imported bathroom fixtures.. could not have wished for more.

Enjoying our breakfast and dinner just right in front of the mountains and the River Indus was an unforgettable experience and yes how can we forget the "star gazing" from the rooftop.

The location is great, from the bedroom window you have uninterrupted view of poplar trees and timeless mighty indus. In morning this serene scene fills you with energy and love humbleness while admiring the nature. The breakfast was prepared with care & love and served nicely. The owner Mr. Rashid Sami is a great person. He made sure that our visit to be best. He has lot of local interesting stories and tells with his unique style. Thanks to him and his staff who made our stay like an album of beautiful memories.

What a peaceful place. Nestled in the cold Katpana desert, Baltistan Fort Resort was exactly what i needed. It is a labor of love, built using indigenous construction methods with a focus on protecting the environment and heritage. The best part, no generators, the place runs on solar and batteries, and all you hear are the sounds of birds in the morning and perfect dark silence at night when you look at the stars. Rashid sb is a wonderful host and exchanging stories with him over a bowl of buckwheat soup was one of the highlights of my stay

Loved meeting the charismatic owner and talking into the evening about the home he loves. The location is perfect and simply glorious. There was a power cut, very briefly, but no big deal and soon someone was roused to sort it out. A great property with great value for money! Not close to anything, so be prepared to just sink into the glorious scenery!

In the heart of the Katpana Desert, I was surprised to find the WiFi facilities, with Baltistan Fort being the sole spot with internet access. However what truly amazed me was the lush green plantation nearby. The owner proudly shared his success in cultivating cherry, apricot and walnut tress and his plans to expand to other fruit tress. Witnessing apricots and grapes thriving in the desert was a delightful sight. The owner also proudly shared that their resort is a zero-carbon initiative, built using traditional Tibetan methods with local mud and straw as primary materials. Notable for every bag of cement used in the construction, they offset the impact by planting a tree in other parts Baltistan.
Over all it was a lovely stay with clean rooms and especially neat washrooms. Yes we also liked the soup, a speciality of Baltistan Fort, Skardu.
We are looking forward to visit this beautiful resort again with our friends.
