Another wonderful stay at The Anglesey, lovely room at the front of the Hotel, overlooking the Garden and with a glimpse of the sea and the Isle of Wight. As usual, very friendly staff and a great breakfast, with numerous options to choose from all freshly cooked.
It is a very elegant building set in a very quiet area of Alverstoke.
Nothing
breakfast was excellent, room was perfect and evening meal very good too. Location fab
Pillows on the bed were stained and entire room could do with a deep clean, staff were great but best at breakfast and the staff at the bar the young girls are a little immature on how they talk to publicans and reception barely glanced up to say hello or thanks. Otherwise a great trip.
The staff looked after us very well, they were attentive & friendly. Excellent food & service in the restaurant & bar. Our room was lovely & clean, with a glimpse of the sea & Isle of Wight & was overlooking a beautiful garden. The beds were very comfortable & we had everything necessary to make our stay perfect. Location was good with the hotel being very close to Stokes Bay & the Solent.
Thank you for your hospitality
Breakfast was good.
Location was very good for a well deserved break.
Very friendly and relaxed staff. We loved our first floor room (101) with a lovely bathroom. The hotel retains a regency feel especially the beautiful dining room. Formal regency gardens face the hotel while food and drinks can be served in a small front garden. The location is very quiet. The bar was pleasantly busy, my fish and chips were modest but the best ever. We plan to return!
Minor niggles.. parking is on-street although we had no problem finding a slot. Parts of the hotel are a little tired which is reflected in the price. Food in the bar was a bit slow arriving.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for me and meant that I could walk to where I needed to get to. The evening meal was nice and I slept well.
The decor was a bit tired and there was a sign in my room warning of pigeons coming in the window if I left it open which was a bit disconcerting. There was no easy parking and I had to find street parking.
It was in a nice part of town and quiet, with a short walk to the sea.
The electric shower in my room didn’t get hot.
Lovely staying in beautiful historical building, with very clean and comfortable rooms.
Very good and varied breakfasts, with excellent meals.
All the staff were very polite and efficient, very impressed.
Would recommend staying at The Anglesey Hotel
Nothing
Lovely breakfast, beautiful room, quiet and peaceful, interesting Victorian building and very nice public garden opposite.
The water ran very slowly into the wash basin, and the plug didn't stop it from running out. We fixed the problem with the plug. It had come unscrewed.
The curtain was detached from some of its hooks, on a very high window that we couldn't reach. It let in light from the street lamp as a result.
Everything. This is a regular venue for us. It's set in gorgeous surroundings, with fantastic views the higher you go up the building. Lovely food. Lovely staff. A good size lift, which is always working.
The one downer for us (my husband is disabled) is the entrance. There are 2, one without steps and a good handle into the bar area but you then have to go up steps which does have a hand rail to access the restaurant, reception and hotel rooms. The other access is via a very elegant entrance but it has nasty steps with absolutely no rail! Please please do something about this!!
Property was lovely, Just a shame about the PARKING !!! Give that a 1. ,, !!!!!
Beautiful hotel , Lovely clean , Comfortable beds ,,
The staff & the cleanliness
Nothing really
A true gem - such a nice change from all the usual hotel chains. I think it was built in 1830. Many similar era hotels around the country are a bit shabby, but this place is really well maintained. My room (303) had a lovely sea view from two windows. It was a little taste of Georgian grandeur! Also dinner and breakfast were excellent. I might go back again just to stay for pleasure rather than work!
All good
The staff went out of their way and were extremely helpful.
