The room needed attention and
Excellent location. Very helpful staff. Good food.
Bar and restaurant was good with a good selection of food and drinks.
The room could have been cleaner this was not up to standard.
A traditional hotel set in a quiet crescent with a secluded peaceful garden adjacent. Rooms facing South on the upper floors have views out towards the Solent and Isle of Wight.
The staff are welcoming and helpful.
For those who find modern hotels bland and predictable, this is a nice contrast.
A short ferry to Gunwharf take you in to historic Portsmouth.
The hotel is on a beautiful street. We actually didn’t use the bar or have breakfast so can’t comment on those facilities.
However our room was on the 3rd (top) floor. It was incredibly small, very very stuffy, and was very tired. Lots and lots of marks on the walls, the carpet hadn’t been hoovered properly, lots of bits, the sheets had black little hairs all over, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned to a high standard, with around the shower trap really grimey, same with the sink. Basically it was very minimal cleaning that had been done. It was more like a b&b, I would probably rate it 6.5/10.
Breakfast was nice, fresh fruit and pastries were lovely but when asked if there were more was told the chef refused to cook anymore at this time maybe just say there was none left
Daughter's room had used sanitary towels in her bin and heard staff say oh not another one you can change it this time
An historic, comfortable and friendly hotel by the sea.
The rooms and hotel was lovely and so was the gardens.
The shower needs fixing it was temperamental with the pressure and on the Sunday it stopped working completely. My breakfast avocado and eggs was nice but my family's breakfast was not great. Bacon and sausages needed cooking more And when we asked if there was any more bakery stuff they was not willing to put any more on and it was still 44 minutes before it closed. Also staff need to move a bit quicker they was slow with bringing out cutlery and cleaning tables.
