Hidden Gem in Mandrem/Morjim
Pros:

Very hospitable staff, clean hotel, comfy beds and nice pool. Very close to Morjim, Ashvem beach. Supermarket & resturants is walkable distance from the property.

Pool area

pool area is gloomy and certainly doesn’t look as fantastic in reality as it does in the photographs. Very little sunlight reaches the area, and there are no curtains around the Balinese seating area, which is extremely uncomfortable to sit on. There are also no sun loungers, just a few chairs and no tables.

The floor is very dirty and desperately needs a proper clean. For some reason, they seem to think that simply wetting the floor will miraculously make it clean! A hard brush or pressure washer would be a much better solution especially when the street dogs visit each morning to pee up against the furniture.

If you decide to stay here, make sure you bring pool shoes or flip-flops for getting in and out of the pool, otherwise your feet will be filthy.

The pool itself has a large tide mark around the edge and the water is cloudy on occasion.

I wanted to use the pool this afternoon, but there was a large group of young Indian men playing extremely loud techno music. They appeared to be a little worse for wear, so we decided to give it a miss. Management really should put a stop to this kind of behaviour.

Wi-Fi

If Wi-Fi is important to you, I would suggest having plenty of mobile data as a backup. The hotel advertises high-speed Wi-Fi, but this certainly wasn’t our experience. Downloading anything or streaming was virtually impossible due to constant buffering.

Safety

Be careful of the very uneven paving stones near the entrance. I nearly fell over them, so they definitely need attention.

Check-in and staff

Check-in was good, and the staff were all lovely and helpful. However, no information was forthcoming about restaurant opening times or when the rooms would be cleaned. (you need to hand in the key to reception if you require cleaning) A little more information on arrival would have been appreciated.

Bar and drinks

The property is advertised as having a bar, but we couldn’t find one. In reality, drinks are simply delivered on request.

Great Stay at Mandrem!
Pros:

Pool, rooms and hospitality is top notch. Quite a good and peaceful experience staying here for a night. Well maintained and clean rooms were cherry on the top.

Great Boutique Hotel in Mandrem Goa
Pros:

La Vera was really excellent. We stayed for two weeks. Beautifully clean rooms, very good beds and decent pillows. The pool is super clean as well. They clean rooms daily if you wish and supply large water bottles daily which is great for travellers wary of unfiltered water. Walking distance to the Mandrem Village with ATM, Supermarkets, Wine Shops and eateries and fruit shops. Cute little village too. Scooters can be arranged as well ( recommended )and its a short ride to the beachfront and walking distance to restaurants and a gym. Very nice views from our upper level and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Also great value here as well. Highly recommended. Special thanks to all the staff, especially Rakesh, Shubham and Shubhash but all the friendly staff as well.

Pros:

I stayed at La Vera for 3 days. It was a wonderful property. Very pleasant. Property managers are very helpful and respectful. It is nearby Ashwem beach which is like about a kilometre away. I didn't order food so I can't comment on that but otherwise everything is great.

Also if you're coming to Goa for the first time, Mandrem is the calmer, quieter side of North Goa. If you're looking for peace and serenity, book away, though this will be a bit away from every touristy place, that will be the only downside I guess, but rest everything is wonderful.
