Paid extra for a room with a balcony, didn't realise this was shared with 5 other rooms and also open to the public. Dated facilities.
Location
Riviera Terrace with great views of Torquay over the bay
Hotel badly needs updating.
Restaurant and bar food not as good as previous years but still good choices.
Locatie was geweldig, strak aan zee
Bedden waren verschrikkelijk. Heb bijna niet geslapen. Ik kon de springveren in het matras voelen
The view was nice
Paid £12 for overnight parking, thankfully kept the receipt because I received a parking fine through the post off which we are obviously appealing but could do with out the stress.
Also found an empty table in the bar area in the afternoon with reserved all day on it, on questioning this we were told the gentleman in question had gone back to his room and will return later??
Location
Good selection, proper bacon at breakfast and fresh fish for dinner. Service was spot on ....
Fantastic location
Slightly dated, no air con (not the hotels fault the weather has been so hot, but would be a nice addition) needs some tlc in places, but very clean and excellent, friendly and professional staff.
Friendly staff , great location and the food was excellent
Having to compete with non hotel guests for tables or chairs in the lounge area or outside in the gardens because the 7 nights stay I had there was 3 weddings, 1 funeral and a prom so I couldn’t enjoy the gardens , property looked and felt a little dated
The location is excellent, just a 15 to 20 minute walk from the train station and to Torquay’s main harbour, with its wide selection of restaurants, bars, and attractions. It’s also conveniently close to bus stops, making it easy to explore the surrounding area even if you’re not travelling by car.
While the stay was generally pleasant, there are a few areas that could be improved. The rooms would benefit from a thorough deep clean. We noticed sticky window sills and a number of dead flies, which detracted from the overall impression of cleanliness.
There also appears to be a lack of some basic facilities. Complimentary drinking water in the rooms would have been appreciated, and there was no secure luggage storage available after checkout. We were advised to leave our bags in the main reception area, where staff said they would keep an eye on them, but a dedicated secure storage area would provide much greater peace of mind.
Additionally, we overheard another guest mention that the windows in Room 9 do not open, which may be something the hotel wishes to address for guest comfort.
Excellent breakfast staff never stop
Coming home
The hotel was great, room was kept clean, we had a great view with a terrace overlooking the sea and Torbay.
Breakfast were good, staff were great and always pleasant with great service behind the bar and in reception.
I could'nt really complain about anything. Maybe the parking could cost a little less for guests
Location was absolutely fantastic. Right on the beach. Dodgy wall and steps going down to beach that is actually blocked off. But at your own risk you can climb down the dodgy steps.
The bright lights outside rooms ( but blackout curtains block this out )
Absolutely stunning location, and amazing staff. Very smartly dressed, and attentive.Views are spectacular &so are the grounds
Very very dated bedrooms, bathroom absolutely tiny, can sit on toilet and wash your hands, bath so small it’s unreal! Bathroom badly decorated, mould on grout, cobwebs everywhere, carpet is sooo old and stained in bedroom, not hoovered properly, edges around skirting boards thick with dust, even in the hallway and stairs
Location and view outstanding. Staff friendly and helpful. Beds comfortable. Dog friendly. Evening meal was lovely and good value
Very hot in the room with one fan and only one window opening fully.
There was a wedding which went on a little late with disruption, bright lights and noise outside window.
Continental breakfast was poor, could have had more fresh fruit, yoghurt choice.
Lovely location
Noone could help this but the room was so hot in the weather and didn't cool all night. A couple from the wedding on site had a screaming argument 2.40am gor an hour.
