Breakfast very basic
Steep stairs. Bedroom on 2nd floor. Two elderly guests. No one to help carry luggage.
CAVEAT EMPTOR
DO NOT BOOK until you have read the reviews
I wish I had............You have been warned
No WiFi
No breakfast
No shower
No staff
On check in I was asked to fill in an order form for the full English breakfast.
The hotel had no lift.
I had booked an en suite room with a sea view. This had been confirmed by booking.com. I was given a room on the top floor overlooking the central part of the hotel with a view of scaffolding. After complaining I ended up with a room on the 1st floor also with a view of the scaffolding . We walked up & down 2 steep flights of stairs with luggage whilst staff were deciding which room to give us.
The chambermaid was extremely helpful and pleasant.
The water pressure of the shower was feeble
The whole hotel is grubby and in need of a serious uplift.
The breakfast room was closed for "technical reasons" and we were insulted with a paltry £5 pp refund as compensation. No offer to provide any form of recompense at the going market rate ie minimum £15 pp for full English.. we found a nice café locally where full breakfast was £15.50pp
The staff were pleasant enough but really weren't interested in making amends for a room that was vastly overpriced at £130!
Location / Parking
I have been charged twice for this hotel and i am still waiting for my money back from the hotel or booking.com WHO IS GOING TO PAY ME BACK BLOODY DISGUSTING SERVICE.
Service was slow, food was cold and bit disorganised
Sicherer Abstellplatz für mein Fahrrad.
Only the location is fine
The bedroom decoration is o
ut and needs refurbishment, and the bathroom don't have any soap 🧼 or toilet roll, the breakfast not many choices
Location
Paid for Breakfast. No chef turned up! Had to go out and find a cafe that was open so that I could eat !!!!!!! SHOCKING !!!
Location was good 6 minutes walk to penzance railway station
No Ac rooms ,No lift , Beds were wonky and mattress not comfortable, toilet door not having locks , shower pipe leaking , so hot inside the building, may be good for winter times. No spoon or water in a bottle was not provided. Even a tap water was not kept in a glass jar . Staff told me to take the water from bathroom pipes . They said that was potable .
Local to town and shops.
Room need to be setup better to flow with using the mirror and sockets.
Bathroom need more shelving to out bathroom washing items. Tolietr toll holder.
Towels where a little threadbare. Didnt have a head towlel big enough to dry my hair.
No aircon, but got a fan when asked.
Breakfast arrangements were a little disorganised. None there to show where to go or sit.
No glasses foe feuit juice or dish for ceral. No sidr plates for toast.
Breakfast was incorrect to our order.
The receptionist was helpful and pleasant.
There need some decoration to be done indoors and carpets need cleaning
Bed was a bit small and squeeky and soft.
The room was clean and comfy bed.
The history of the hotel was facinsting.
What a fabulous building, it had so much character which they have tried to keep. It is a shame that there was obvious damp patches. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. It was clean and had everything you needed.
Good history of hotel ,the 1 member of staff that seemed to do everything was ententive to our needs
Hotel far to hot due to faulty central heating, hotel needs a lot of attention to defects re water ingress
The location
Everything, we never stay again
Smells, dated, light bulb blown, curtains let in too much light so woke up at 5:30am. Old style piano music can be heard at 5.48am.
Wi-Fi not working so I asked the guy on the bar and I was told with a smile on his face just a simple........oh yeah it doesn't work and it went off about 5 days ago........ great when I had work calls to do and no actual phone signal in the rooms. Yet after reading other reviews the WiFi clearly doesn't work at all.........but yet you advertise with WiFi.
The room was so hot so left the window open and now at 6.34am the room smells of vile disgusting cigarette smoke.
Can't use the bathroom if your claustrophobic, when using the toilet your thighs touch the wall and the side of the bath.
Useless shower
Pre ordered breakfast for for 7:45am. We got there at 7:40am, nobody came to see us at the table. After sitting there till 7.50am and still not been seen to we left
The price is a rip off,I would not recommend this place ever, and will be asking for money back
Awful simply awful
Nothing
.nothing
decent location, and convenient parking
Bed was awful, very uncomfortable. Bathroom was dirty, black mould on tiles etc.
Loud drunken guests either side of us, aided in their comings and goings by the night porter. He spent 15 minutes discussing with them the relative merits of breaking down the door to their room, as their roommate had locked himself in. Apparently it was essential to "get my effing jacket" at midnight. But sadly "Dean" wouldn't or couldn't open the door. Abuse (verbal) received when we asked for them to quieten down. As we had an early departure we could not find anyone to report this to in the morning. Awful experience definitely not to be repeated.
The staff at The Union Hotel were all (without exception) very helpful. The live music was a real plus for me, and the bar area is friendly, especially when travelling solo. I would stay at The Union Hotel again for these reasons. The location of the hotel is also great and walkable to public transport both rail and bus, with easy links to visit the local area, including St Ives.
The hotel is an interesting listed building but a little tired.. Any minor glitches were sorted by the helpful staff, you just need to ask.
- ranzige, vierzig Jahre alte Teppiche
- gute Lage
Not much
The bar area was pleasant
The TV in Room 7 needs replacing and lifting
