Complimentary breakfast and nearby parking. Interesting artwork and history.
Downstairs pub was ok, but otherwise Run down, badly in need of repairs, upgrading, and renovations. Poor value for money.
Bar and music night
John the manager
Breakfast
poor curtains
Hill
We had the room directly above the bar which had a live heavy rock band performing, which shook our room, looked like the room had not been cleaned damp towels on the floor, pillows and bedding all ruffled, looked like people had slept in them, toilet seat band which tells you it had been cleaned was broken off and in the bin which had other rubbish in as well. It had coffee/tea making facilities but no kettle. We would have complained but we got back to the hotel late around 10pm which we did advise them we would be back late when we arrived at 10am in the morning.
Location
Uncomfortable beds, no towel hooks or toilet roll holder. Dirty windows. Breakfast was very average.
Clean bed linen and towels, the bar man was very friendly.
Cooked breakfast was brought to us before we finished our cereal, breakfast stock not replenished, no waiting staff to clear dirty plates away.
Some food items booked the night before not available
No milk jug for the table
La gentillesse du personnel
Le petit déjeuner
Le lit beaucoup trop mou
Very dated room. Sticky carpets, smelly bathroom ancient bed. The hotel is falling down with stained and cracked plaster, filthy carpets and no service.
Everything
Staff & Location
A beautiful property with so much History sadly it needs a lot of investment to the bedrooms to bring it up to standard.
You pay the price for location & the staff are wonderful
The incredibly over worked but willing lone manager
Tired property in need of serious renovation
Dull disappointing breakfast
Location was good for my needs. Pirates won. Live music in bar at night.
Check in, breakfast and room all very substandard. Won't ever stay at the Union Hotel again
Has obviously been a grand, elegant hotel, bedroom was fine.
We looked out on a filthy roof, full of scaffolding and pigeon droppings. Breakfast didn’t happen, locked doors in all directions and no staff to be seen anywhere.
Position, and beautiful view from our top floor bedroom.
Helpful staff.
Lots of character in the building.
Lack of a lift.
Some parts of the building were very warm.
Access wasn’t helped by all of the roadworks in the town.
It was close to the port
The room needs a complete makeover. It was very depressing
Nice and central, lovely breakfast and good entertainment
There was little water pressure in the shower
Bathroom is good size and private.
breakfast, I have been payed but I wasn’t able to have it because there were no staff available in the morning.
