The Staff were great, on site parking, food was nice.
The heating was off in the room. The radiator behind the bed headboard didn't work. The large electric radiator next to the entrance door didn't work and the plug was damaged. The electric kettle didn't turn off after boiling. There was a small electric heater that did work however it wasn't sufficient to heat this large Room. I raised the matter and they kindly gave us another small heater which was unservisable and didn't work. No heating in the toilet shower facility. When I turned the shower on the water leaked down the side of the wall and the shower basin filled up with other people's hairs. We booked a room at cost with a garden view and we had a view of a noisy main road. We reserved a table for dinner this was away from the bar however it was cold. I asked if they could light the fire however the staff said they couldn't because they couldn't monitor the amount of logs used.
The staff were ultra friendly and accommodating
It’s not advertised that there are lots of stairs to get to your room
Lovely people, special mention to Lisa who served me up a breakfast with enough sausage, eggs, bacon, black pudding etc, etc to dink a Battleship 😁. All the staff couldn't do enough to help, great job guys 👍.
I was staying there for a few days to go Mountain biking & whilst the room was small, it was perfect for me to crash out at the end of the day, so it's not really something that I didn't like but just thought I'd mention it, if all you want is base to explore from it's ideal.
The staff and the food were excellent. Very friendly and very clean everywhere.
We were given a small room at the top floor with perilous stairs. I know it's a very old building, but as we were the only ones staying and there were 2 rooms on a lower floor available, it seemed a bit thoughtless.
Friendly and helpful
No one there on check out (not a problem as such) but I cannot get a VAT receipt. I have tried numerous times via booking app messages (one reply with promise to do then ignored), I have left messages, spoken to someone on phone but again no receipt and still chasing. For anyone going here on business etc this is a nightmare if you want to claim on your expenses. Such a simply solved problem ruined my experience and is ongoing after a month!
Staff were so friendly and couldn’t have done any more for us if they tried. The room was unique and you can tell they tried making it so stylish and different which was a gorgeous touch.
Cleaning could have been a little better but it wasn’t totally gross just the odd little touches.
Breakfast was tasty and well presented.
It was nice to be able to choose from a menu.
The upkeep of the room.
There was some wall paper starting to peel off.
The room could have been warmer.
A plug is needed by a mirror to be able to see when drying your hair.
To provide a hairdryer would have been good too.
Nice room and fantastic pub whit amazing staff
Hunmanby is a lovely village with a small supermarket, several other shops and a few pubs. We had a mini pub crawl on Saturday night. It is a short drive to both Filey and Bridlington both of which we visited during our stay. The White Swan Hotel is an interesting old building. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything required. Our suite had a free standing bath in the bedroom which was fun but could have been an issue for anyone requiring a lot of privacy. There is free parking which is always good. The breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly. It was quiet and peaceful overnight.
We had a great stay and had no complaints. The pub and room was slightly let down by the styling, a change of colour and some minor finishing details will elevate the place.
Location is great and so were the staff.
Rooms freezing cold, the heater in the room didn’t work but we were given a portable one that took the chill off. Very poor on the cheap DIY where they have tried to update the room. With some money and TLC this hotel does have potential such a shame our stay wasn’t the best and not worth what was paid.
Very welcoming barman. Rooms warm and clean. Cracking breakfast!
Lovely staff, great location
Room was a bit small
Staff superb and very helpful. Food very good. Actual comfort of room OK. Location good.
However the stairs up to rooms 3, 4 our room, 5 and 6 are extremely dangerous at the top where they narrow and turn.
I booked the White Swan as it advertised a twin bedded room (which seems to be a rarety round Filey).
This meant we had to be in Room 4 which is up the dangerous stairs.
As I am somewhat disabled in movement and the climb and coming down was a great challenge. I was asked if I wanted to change but as this meant a double bed I didn't accept.
The stairs need completely rebuilding creating a flat landing at the top so one can turn on to the corridor. The right hand hand rail needs to stand off the wall so it can be gripped properly.
I am amazed that the current arrangement is acceptable to the licencing authorities.
See above.
Lovely big room with bath and comfy bed
Room very cold and we did get given a radiator by bar staff when asked
Stale smell from carvery permeated entrance hall and stairwell
good
