Igabara Hobbit House

We stayed in the Hobbit House with the private pool. It was amazing. Really beautiful setting and lovely to use the pool whenever we wanted to. Hiusham was very helpful and recommended good places for us to visit on the scooter he arranged for us.

The location is great - you can walk to the beach and the lagoon but is very quite and out the way, there are also nice local restaurants around.

There were so many small details which made the stay so nice and the breakfast was amazing! The hosts were so helpful booking tours or arranging transport.

Es war ein rundum wunderschöner Aufenthalt bei Hirushan. Die Unterkunft ist in dieser schönen Gegend einmalig und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Unser Gastgeber hat unsere Tagesausflüge, den Flughafenshuttle und alle sonstigen Wünsche organisiert, sodass wir uns um nichts kümmern mussten. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und das Frühstück war hervorragend. Vielen Dank für diesen gelungenen Urlaub bei euch. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

What an incredible place to stay! Due to our plans we only got to stay one night but would have loved to extend it. The amount of attention/effort in evry detail is amazing. The owner is highly friendly as all the other employees. They really want you to have a wonderful experience.

Eine wunderschöne Anlage, in der es wirklich an nichts fehlt. Die Gastgeber sind außergewöhnlich herzlich, aufmerksam und stets bemüht, jeden Aufenthalt perfekt zu machen.

Das Frühstück ist schlichtweg ein Traum – eine unglaubliche Auswahl, so reichlich, dass wir unmöglich alles probieren konnten.

Jeder noch so kleine Wunsch wurde uns erfüllt, sogar die Organisation des Nationalpark-Besuchs wurde komplett für uns übernommen.

Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und kommen ganz bestimmt wieder.

It’s the perfect balance of a luxury feel with attentive staff and a great price. I would definitely stay here again, come here to get away from the stereotypical busy south of Sri Lanka. You won’t regret it if you love nature while being comfortable.

Schönes Hobbit Häuschen im Dschungel gelegen, sehr freundlicher Besitzer bzw Familie. Kurzer Spaziergang zum traumhaften und unberührten Strand.

Hirushan ist der Name des Gastgebers. Er ist sehr nett und sehr hilfsbereit! Zum Geburtstag meine Frau hat er morgens extra einen Geburtstagskuchen überreicht.
Ich habe ihn gefragt, wie es auf die Idee gekommen ist, Hobbit-Häuser zur bauen. Er meinte, er sei Fan der Sage und suchte nach etwas eigenes um sich abzugrenzen. Was ihm nach unserer Überzeugung auch gelungen ist.
Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen ist eine nächtliche Tour zur Schildkrötenschutzstation. Eine Führung kann nach Lust und Laune bis zu 3 Stunden dauern. Man beobachtet dann Riesenschildkröten bei der Eiablage am Strand.
Die Touren gehen abends um 20:00 los. Es gibt dort viele schöne Restaurants und den man lecker vorher essen kann.

The Igabara Hobbit House was everything we dreamed of and more! We were kindly upgraded to the option with a private pool and it was the best hotel on our trip (probably ever) and we will fondly remember our stay here. The owner had thought of everything from the detail in the beach bag to the amazing breakfast we were served in our private dining area every morning. It’s the perfect location for a quieter more peaceful beach stay in Tangalle with delicious seafood restaurants near by (Happy Beach Sea View Cabin Restaurant was our favourite). A must stay, 100/10 !!!

Tranquil location, very quiet, romantic and private - we had a perfect stay here during our honeymoon. Set in a stunning village, the hosts are incredibly warm and hospitable, they sorted out tuktuks and a kayak for us to explore the neighbouring lagoon. Fantastic food, we were left stuffed everyday!

We had a fantastic time at this hotel. Everything was perfect, but what really made our stay special was the owner. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality these days. The atmosphere was cozy, and we enjoyed every minute. We will definitely be back! 10/10 recommended.

We stayed two nights at this villa with our family and had a wonderful time. The location is perfect, just 1”5 minutes from the beach, yet very quiet and relaxing. The villa was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with everything we needed. The Owner were kind and welcoming, which made our stay even better. A great place for families — highly recommended

My wife and I stayed one night at the Igabara Hobbit House in Rakawa, and it was such a unique and memorable experience. The design of the house is truly special — it feels like stepping into a storybook, with its charming hobbit-style architecture and cozy atmosphere. The attention to detail in the construction and decoration makes the place stand out, and we really enjoyed the creativity behind it.

The location is peaceful and surrounded by nature, which gave us a sense of calm and relaxation from the moment we arrived. It was the perfect escape from busy life, and we loved the privacy the place offered. Inside, the hobbit house was clean, comfortable, and well set up with everything we needed for our stay.

The hosts were very warm and welcoming, making sure we felt at home. They were attentive but also gave us our space to enjoy the experience. The surrounding area in Rakawa is beautiful as well, and being close to the beach was an added bonus.

Even though it was just a one-night stay, it left a lasting impression on us. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to return for a longer visit. We highly recommend the Igabara Hobbit House to anyone looking for something different, magical, and unforgettable.
