Quirky and friendly, and conveniently organised.
I put down location wasn't good only because I had to travel back into Berwick upon tweed after checking in because they don't serve food ( but according to there official website they do!!)
Otherwise location would be perfect.
It states check in after 6pm .So after I freshen up we were informed by another guest ( not staff) that they did not serve food and had to travel into Berwick upon tweed for something to eat! When we arrived back later on that night to settle and watch TV we couldn't get a signal. I went downstairs to ask a member of staff but nobody was about. The same thing the following day ( no staff)
Not much
No good available website shows food property run down and dirts
This was an older building, interesting and sympathetically maintained, our room was absolutely charming and very comfortable. The bar was very friendly, we had a very enjoyable evening chatting there. It is dog friendly, and our dog had a great time meeting people. I liked the self service model on which it was run. Once we collected our keys to the room and the back door, we could come and go as we pleased.... Very useful with a dog! In the morning, we simply helped ourselves to breakfast, before packing up, dropping our keys in the bowl and setting off. We should have checked about meals beforehand;they weren't serving meals that weekend (possibly as we were the only people staying). There were places nearby that would deliver, but as I have multiple allergies this was too complicated and because we'd had a drink, we couldn't go further afield. It wasn't a great issue, we'd had lunch earlier, and we had food in the car, so we had a picnic in our room. But all in all we had a lovely, peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings only a step away!
Thank you, Waterloo Arms
It was quite
The hotel had ceased to be a hotel and was nothing like the description on the web site.
Shower pressure was good.
The room was dirty, with cobwebs and a greasy smear on the wall. Breakfast was grim. Room was noisy. Pub claims on its website that it does food, but there was no food at all. The TV in the room didn't work, no channels available at all.
All in all, pretty poor.
There was nothing to like about this establishment. The pictures on Booking.com must have been taken years ago. The outside is run down and dirty, full of weeds. The windows are filthy dirty. The inside was the same, very dirty.
The place is in need of a deep clean and renovation. Fridge was dirty, then told that the fridge didn't work and there was one tucked away in a dark tiny room next to the kitchen. No Wifi, no TV working. It smells mouldy and damp. I took pictures of this mess. The Host Ann was very difficult to contact. She said she left her name and phone no. in a book on the worktop, but she didn't. When I managed to get her phone number she would not speak to me. I spoke to her husband and asked him for a full refund of £490.
Convenient location
Not very clean
No staff available
Poor standard of furnishings
Cosy bar down stairs
Room and bedding were a bit tired for the price
When I arrived at 7:45pm place was closed. Tried phoning, email & messaging site. No answer to either so had to make alternative arrangements at 10pm.
This was my third stay at The Waterloo Arms, I have previously really enjoyed staying here, but I was left really disappointed this time round. Staff were cheerful and friendly, but they informed me they were just covering as a favour.
Apparently management changed in January, and they no longer have a Chef so the restaurant was not open and they don't do a cooked breakfast anymore. Despite this there were still menus for the restaurant left in the room. When we checked in we received an envelope with some bits of information about our stay; it said there would be a continental breakfast, but didn't mention when breakfast started. Unfortunately the breakfast room was locked when we went downstairs to try and get breakfast at 8 o'clock. All in all really disappointed, as previously the establishment was great. I'm especially disappointed, because my previous stays have been so good, but this time it was rubbish.
Basic but
Ok
Feels basic
Continental....met my needs.
Wi-fi outside immediate property
evening meal very good , staff good
very noisey from pub below till well after midnight , no thought for guests trying to sleep !
not enought milk in fridge for continental breakfast, one couple with child had none
Location and breakfast very good, staff very friendly and helpful. Room very nice and comfortable.
Had a meal with relatives in the evening, they looked after the children’s needs well and the food was very good.
Room was over the bar so seemed quite noisy until bar shut but fine after that. Base noise from speakers in bar was a bit irritating.
The rooms were clean, bedding clean and comfortable.
Just re opened after refresh with new management, helpful staff & a good bar, help your self continental breakfast as standard with a optional cooked breakfast on request.
