A really cool and fun place! We especially loved swimming in the lake (there’s a small jump you can do too of about 5 metres) and Kayaking in the lake at sunset. The food was really yummy and the staff were super helpful and friendly. We only wished we could have stayed longer!

Die Lage am See ist traumhaft, die kleinen Stegbungalows mit Hängematten und Sonnenstühlen sind perfekt zum relaxen, Essen ist gut, Personal freundlich, Zimmer toll, nach Tikal ist es auch nicht mehr so weit, alles perfekt, eigentlich unsere liebste Unterkunft in Guatemala
Het eten hier is echt fenomenaal, en je krijgt dan ook nog eens (Amerikaanse) grote porties. Ook was het mogelijk om een etenspakketje klaar te laten leggen bij een vroeg vertrek. Dat was erg fijn, en iets wat zeker niet overal in Guatemala lukte.
Verder ziet het er geweldig uit allemaal, de ligging aan het meer is fantastisch en zeker voor mensen die van zwemmen en relaxen houden is het een groot genot vanwege de hangmatten bij het water, de schommel en de duikplank.
De kamers waren ook nog mooier dan we hadden gehoopt!
Wisselende ervaring met het personeel, de meeste waren heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam, maar er werd ons meermaals gevraagd waar we heen gingen als we weg gingen. Dat gaf het idee dat ze niet echt doorhadden wie we waren en dat we gewoon weer terug zouden komen. Ze leken daarmee enigszins achterdochtig.
Ook de kamers zelf. Die zien er schitterend uit, en we hadden zelfs een gratis upgrade gekregen, maar je kunt werkelijk alles horen. Het Nederlandse gezin naast ons op de laatste avond konden we woord voor woord verstaan. Ook is er weinig privacy, want de terrasjes aan de voorzijde liggen allemaal naast elkaar.
Als laatste, maar daar kunnen ze niet veel aan doen maar is toch het vermelden waard; de gasten die hier kwamen pasten niet helemaal in ons straatje soms. Influencer-achtige types en mensen die zich duidelijk beter voelen dan de rest. Natuurlijk niet iedereen, maar wel een aantal.
We loved our stay at Gringo Perdido. The room looked modern and newly renovated and was clean and comfortable for three people (it had a bunk bed). The beds are comfortable and the shower had plenty of pressure and hot water and double sinks. The property is outstanding - plenty of hammocks and chairs scattered around to enjoy. We went swimming in the pool and the lake which were both refreshing and relaxing. They have paddle boards and kayaks and tubes available as well.
The hotel can arrange a variety of activities and we would not hesitate to book with them - we wished we had more time. They allowed us to enjoy the facilities after our morning at Tikal and before going to the airport - it was a nice way to end our trip. They organized our Tikal guide and provided an excellent guide named Carlos - he was so informative and enthusiastic and an expert at spotting wildlife. Our morning with him at Tikal was one of the highlights of our trip. The location is also perfect - half way between Flores and Tikal which made for a short drive to Tikal in the morning. The hotel can also arrange transfers to and from the airport.
The dinner was one of the best that we had in Guatemala as well. They have a lunch menu if your arrive early.

Vrouw bij de desk bood ons een Tikal tour aan. Geboekt en betaald. Bij navraag de avond ervoor bleek dat ze alleen een transport bedoelde… hebben toen onze hele plannen moeten omgooien en extra kosten moeten maken

What a wonderful stay! The hotel has a beautiful location with stunning views. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book this hotel again!
We really enjoyed our stay, but during the weekend the day groups and larger groups with children were quite loud, without much being done about it. This took away a little from the otherwise wonderful, relaxed atmosphere of the hotel.
