Good stay
Pros:

I had a nice stay. The owners were really nice and they picked me up at the pier with the scooter. I also rented the motorbike from them. The room was clean and basic.

Cons:

It was a bit noisy because of some works they were doing outside.

Pros:

First of all, the family members who run this place are extraordinary, service minded, and kind. They picked me up and drove me to the pier on the other side of the island without charge. They treated me and the other gests very nicely and did everything so we were comfortable.
We communicate mostly through Google Translate and WhatsApp, but verbal language is universal, and they are very good at it.. The room was i expected, simple but spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable for my taste, and there were towels, aircon and kettle. There is a small terrace outside where you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee after sightseeing on this beautiful island.

Simple, slow, quiet place - like Hon Son itself
Pros:

Hon Son Island is not very developed and stay options (particularly ones that can be booked online) are very limited, so I was taking a chance with this booking. It was nothing more and nothing less than what I expected. There was nobody at the property other than me and my friend. The caretaker picked us up from the ferry on his bike (he brought an extra bike for my friend) and dropped us to the homestay, handing us the keys and communicating by gestures alone because he could not use google translate. But he was as helpful as he could be, given our limited means to communicate. He charged a very reasonable rate for the bike rental without which it is impossible to explore the island. There was a kitchen which we could have used if we wanted to. We did stock up on some fruit as there was a fridge in the room. The caretaker arranged beer for my friend and he would have brought and cooked fish for us as well if we asked him to. His wife accompanied my friend to shop for fruits, which made things so much easier. There is nobody constantly present at the property so it is pretty much a self-service type of arrangement. The morning we checked out, he also dropped us back to the ferry. This pick-up and drop facility was free of charge. Before your arrival, he sends his photo in advance and also a photo of the spot where he will meet you outside the ferry point, but he communicates only on Zalo.

Cons:

The property is very simple and basic - so it's not like you would "dislike" something but you might miss a few things. The bedsheets were not very fresh. The bathroom was very small and there was no shower. Drinking water was not available anywhere nearby so one had to stock up on one's own. Anything on this island without a motorbike is a challenge. Another property next to this one was at an elevation so it had a good view of the sea, unlike the one where we were staying - though this one also had some semblance of a view from its small verandah and the hammock was definitely nice.
