Pros:

Het avondeten was fenomenaal. Vegetarische keuken, met voldoende afwisseling tussen verschillende ingrediënten. Een super gezellig en charmant verblijf met hangmatten om tot rust te komen midden in de natuur. Niets beter dan wakker worden met de geluiden van de jungle!

Außergewöhnlich
Pros:

Eine der besten Unterkünfte, die wir in Lateinamerika hatten. Super schön gelegen, sozial - wir haben einige andere Reisende kennen gelernt und haben zum Glück unseren Aufenthalt verlängern können. Preise vor Ort für Essen und Touren absolut in Ordnung!

Cons:

Es ist eine Unterkunft mitten in der Natur. Ich bin im Zimmer beinahe auf einen Skorpion getreten, der ins Zimmer gelangt ist. Man muss sich auf Tiere jeglicher Art einstellen :-)

Pros:

Zo een prachtig hotel! Heel lekker eten, heel vriendelijk personeel, het uitzicht is fantastisch en het was er heel rustig. Ideaal om rustig te genieten van de mooie natuur.

Heerlijke locatie midden in de natuur op redelijke loopafstand naar Semuc Champey
Pros:

Locatie was heerlijk midden in de natuur. Wij hebben de wandeling naar Semuc Champey gedaan en dit was goed te doen en duurde ongeveer 45 minuten. Het personeel had ons goed geïnstrueerd hoe je er moest komen. Het hutje aan de rivier is goed uitgerust en de douche in goed uit het zicht van andere huisjes.

Cons:

Dat je er rekening meet moet houden dat er geen voorzieningen in de directe nabijheid liggen en dat je dus afhankelijk bent van een uitje naar Lanqúin of voorbereid naar het verblijf moet reizen.

Come for the stunning views and ambiance of the jungle.
Pros:

Amazing views from the main area and easy access to the river. I enjoyed that the place is quiet and I can spend the time relaxing in a hammock or swimming in the river. Additionally, light pollution is minimal so the stars at night were wonderful. I felt so at peace while staying at Utopia.

Cons:

Sometimes there could be a line for the bathrooms or showers in the morning or evening since it’s shared facilities.

Beautiful property with good facilities at a walkable distance from Semuc Chumpey.
Pros:

Very relaxing property with a beautiful outlook, with Semuc Chumpey only a 30-45 minute walk away. The meals were really good, with good vegetarian options despite being a little expensive for Guatemala.

The staff were attentive, polite and clearly work hard to keep the place clean, creating a nice vibe and looking after the grounds. Their shuttle service to and from the Lanquin bus station is very helpful.

The tour bundles on offer were good packages, however you can explore Semuc Chumpey yourself easily. We booked tubing from the bridge at the entrance back to the Hotel which was really fun and a great way to ‘travel’ back to the hotel only being a few km’s just down the river.

Really good communal areas and hammocks, couches and chilling spots. There’s even art supplies and acoustic guitars!

Cons:

The Nook room was clean but basic, the bed sits just under the slope in the roof so the person against the wall can feel quite claustrophobic. Lots of light comes in from outside too. There are better rooms/ bungalows there that I’m sure would have been nicer.

Despite being more in nature out of town, the added prices for food/tours/shuttles here does add up with not very much being included in the cost of the room.

A interesting stay away from everything!
Pros:

1. The location is amazing. The staff cares and always there to help.
2. You can hike to Semuc Champey from the hotel. Cahabon river is only a few meters away.
3. The sound of the river, the crickets and the clear skies at night are just amazing.
4. With the main paved road to Semuc, the hotel is easy to reach. But read point number four in the commentaries above.
5. Nice vegan food.

Cons:

1. Only vegan options with a very, very few exceptions. If you're a vegan, you will love it. If you're not, well...
2. No independent or external toilet bowl. The toilet bowl is inside the room, on a corner, beside the beds and only separated by two wooden sheets.
3. The shower is outside the room.
4. You need a 4x4 vehicle to reach the hotel. Lose gravel is a problem in different sectors of the road near the hotel.
5. WiFi available only at the main ranch.

Pros:

We had such an amazing stay at this eco-friendly hotel! The setting is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. The food was honestly incredible — fresh, flavorful, and some of the best vegetarian meals we’ve had.
The staff were all so lovely and welcoming. Jake was super helpful the whole time, which made everything easy for us. We did the Semuc Champey and K’anba Caves tour and it was unforgettable. Hermando was an amazing guide, and Ronaldo made tubing back to the hotel so much fun while keeping us safe.

Pros:

Las vistas desde las áreas comunes donde puede comer o tomarte algo.
La comida estaba bastante bien para ser vegetariana

Cons:

Las camas y la habitación es general es muy pequeña, no suficientemente espacio para dejar tus cosas, menos si andas en pareja.
Los chicos o al menos uno de los que hacía el tour de tubing no fueron muy amigables en mi experiencia, poca paciencia si no entiendes su instrucción a la primera y cuando querían hablar mal de alguien lo hacían en su idioma, para que no le entendieran.

Relaxed jungle vibes
Pros:

Relaxed lodge to spend time enjoying the jungle surrounds, river, yoga and massage. The vego food was delicious and substantial. The Semuc Champey, cave tour and tubing was highly enjoyable. Pia, the host, staff, volunteers and doggies were all welcoming.

Cons:

It is very affordable for the offering. We would pay more if the beds were more comfortable.
