Super Solid Value Hotel In A Great Area
Pros:

Got a smoking room, so it was a little damp smelling, but overall this hotel was kinda incredible value. Plus, they checked me in early (2pm), which is against policy, but was nice as my drive had been a good one. Super fantastic location with this hotel, right in the heart of Portland. The value was indeed super.

Cons:

I'll admit that the "dampness" smell that I noted was initially not great, but it's a hotel , and hello, it's Portland. Kind of a damp city. But otherwise, loved it.

I booked two different times. the tv is internet based and their internet was down, so no TV or wifi.
after I booked the second night I went to re-check in
they couldn't take cards because their internet was down so I had to go to the atm, which was a trek. got out exactly enough for the rate, came back & the lady tried to charge me more than what I booked in at. made up multiple random excuses that didnt make sense. I said if they were trying to change my rate from what I booked I would cancel the reservation, she insisted I pay more, so I canceled.

It's a decent, no-frills place in a decent location - very close to the Max, so easy to get into town.

Cons:

Had a repeated issue where the magnetic key cards lost their magnetism and failed to open the door - almost every time I left the room. I was repeatedly told not to put the key cards near my phone (the implication was that it was my fault), but I kept them separate literally 100% of the time; they still lost the ability to unlock my room. They only worked once, and on one occasion I got back very late and couldn't get into my room until a staff member reapplied the magnetism - not really something travelers should have to be dealing with in the early hours of the morning.

My March 3rd, 2026 stay with 'Portland Super Value Inn'
Pros:

I have been staying at 'Portland Super Value Inn' off and on for 5 years and they have consistently gotten better. For this stay I have been pleasantly surprised as the staff were polite and quick with the check- in. Lots of hot water when before there was next to none. I give thumbs up in the progress.

Cons:

The A/C- heater unit was plugged or something wrong as the fan did not work well nor the A/C.
