D'Carol Hotel Surabaya

Hand on heart say this is the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. I arrived and got the key to my room which they wanted cash for. I got to my room and I couldn’t figure the lights out as there was one switch for the bathroom and then one switch that controlled the AC the main light and the small light but you had to keep triple clicking them to get the one you wanted. The bed sheets looked like a smack heads armpit. The room had dirt all over. Cob webs on the ceiling. I didn’t even unpack my bags, went to reception and the women was no help at all. I gave her my receipt back my room key got my money back and then when I got to my next hotel looked in my pocket and still had the room key the only good thing to come from it. The staff were useless the whole place was just disgusting

Cleanliness was bad, beds are dirty, we could see brown stains everywhere,i found a cocroach roaming around the bed, staffs are bad and roughs, maybe few were nice

The bed was filthy. Although it is close to the Trainstation you cannot walk there and need to take a grab.

Room, the cleaness is far from the word "clean"

Stained sheets and very thin towels stained also. No glasses for drinking.

2. Poor system, no one has the right to retain passport as it is the property of the issuing country. Initially, they insisted on doing that until I strongly resisted, and then they agreed to collect a deposit of Rp100K. But the hotel only issued a so-called receipt, a small piece of paper size around 2 inch x 2 inch, and warned me if I lost the paper, I won't be able to get back my deposit.
3. Very dirty, both bed sheets and pillow cases are full of yellowish stains and black spots.

After check-in and looking at the conditions, then I checked on the previous reviews, then realised that I was not the only gust having the same experience. But what surprised me was the replies from the management.

I am considering feedback on my experience to the Indonesia Tourism Promotion Board.

Where should I start?

The sheets are very dirty in this hotel. They need to be refreshed. They were really brown with spots and stains everywhere. When the staff showed us another room, the sheets were just as dirty. I've never seen this dirtiness before in what supposed to be a clean bed. When we asked the staff at first they didn't replace it. Later with a lot of waiting they found clean sheets. They didn't fit the bed, but okay for one night.

The bathroom hasnt had a good clean for months. Hairs everywhere, dirt on the walls. The towels were wrapped in plastic, but when we took them out they were really smelly.

This hotel needs an investment for new sheets and towels, paint on the walls and good clean.

Serouisly pay a little bit more and go somewhere else....
