Clean space, friendly people and beautiful location.
Pros:

Incredibly friendly staff and managers Ayesh and Sunil went above and beyond to answer all our questions and provide solid recommendations. The property is well located near stretches of beach, cute cows in the grass area outside and tuk tuks at arms length. The breakfast was also delicious as well as the buffet dinner we had on Monday night - friends we also invited thoroughly enjoyed the food. They also gave an early birthday dessert platter for my husbands birthday in advance which was so kind.

Cons:

Only provided body wash (no shampoo), but otherwise had all other facilities.

Surfen, Sonnenuntergang und Genießen
Pros:

Perfekte Lage am Strand und phänomenale Sonnenuntergänge garantiert.
Das surfen mit Lucky war eins der Highlights des Urlaubs.
Der Service und das Essen (besonders der Curry-Abend) konnten vollends überzeugen.
Ein klein wenig mehr Bepflanzung rings um den Pool und die Balkone würden das Hotel noch schöner machen.

Pros:

I liked the location next to Coconut beach. Breakfasts are nice. Managers were super nice and caring. We liked the pool and play area.

Cons:

Room was dark and smelled funny. Our room was next to kitchen, so that was a bit grumbling, lots of noises that I do not expect in a room with a little kid and with that kind of price.
In two situations, the servers gave the impression that their lunch and well-being were more important than the guests'. In one situation, the floor of the room was not cleaned of broken glass within 1.5 hours. In another, the buffet platters were not refilled during breakfast, even though it was only 10:00.

Overall, facility seemed worn and needs refreshment.

Lions Rest was one of the highlights of our Sri Lanka trip
Pros:

From the first moment, Ayesh and his entire team made us feel incredibly welcome – almost like part of the family. Whenever we needed help, whether with airline issues, organizing transport, booking activities or getting tips about the area, they were always there and happy to assist.

A real highlight was the Fish BBQ evening. The food was sensationally good, very fresh and at around 4,000 LKR per person absolutely fair. The atmosphere was relaxed and social, with surfers, backpackers and families from all over the world sharing a great evening together.

We also took surf lessons with Lucky – thank you Lucky and hang loose! 🤙

Right in front of the accommodation there is a great reef break for experienced surfers, and nearby you’ll find several beautiful small bays that are surprisingly uncrowded. Only around sunset do a few people gather there – and it’s definitely worth it.

Getting around was super easy thanks to the tuk-tuks waiting right outside (special thanks to Kalana 🙏) who took us comfortably and safely to places like whale watching tours, Weligama or local restaurants.

For us as a family of five this stay was simply wonderful. We would come back anytime and can highly recommend Lions Rest to anyone visiting this area.

Parfait 🤩
Pros:

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour au Lion’s Rest et nous recommandons vivement cet établissement.

L’équipe est vraiment aux petits soins et toujours disponible. Nous nous sommes sentis très bien accueillis dès notre arrivée et tout au long du séjour.

Les petits déjeuners inclus sont copieux et très bons, avec des produits frais. Il est également possible de dîner sur place le soir, ce qui est très pratique et agréable après une journée de visite ou de plage.

La chambre familiale était spacieuse, très propre et parfaitement adaptée à un séjour avec enfants. L’hôtel est clairement kid-friendly, ce qui est un vrai plus pour les familles.

L’emplacement est idéal, à deux pas de Coconut Beach, parfaite pour profiter du coucher de soleil, de la plage et du calme. On peut facilement se déplacer en tuk-tuk pour explorer les alentours.

Nous avons aussi organisé un cours de surf pour toute la famille avec Lucky, via l’hôtel — une superbe expérience !

Fantastic location and lovely room.
Pros:

Great location right on the beach and away from the road so it was quiet (apart from occasional dogs). Staff were lovely and great service. Brought drinks and snacks up to our balcony when we ordered at the bar. Room lovely. Private balcony was large with a great view. Bed comfortable and good shower. Breakfast was great. Water filter machine available free at all times. We hope to return!

Cons:

Would have been nice to have fridge and tea making facilities in the room but the room was a bit small for that and there was access to a big communal fridge downstairs. Coffee wasn’t up to the standard of the rest of the breakfast.

A real treat to stay somewhere so special
Pros:

Beautifully managed with attentive and knowledgeable staff. Room was immaculate and the cleaning products smell amazing.
Breakfast was the best we have had so far on this trip. The place is peaceful and very close to the beach which was never crowded. Lots of nearby places to eat.
