Beds Uncomfortable, breakfast not great, email confirmation states breakfast served in castle to arrive ti then be told no back down at the lodge absolute shambles check in at 12 room wasnt ready Certainly not worth the £170 a night thats for sure
Remote check in was easy as full instructions were supplied. We were offered a continental breakfast when we booked but the kitchen staff had a full english breakfast ready for us which was a lovely surprise. We stayed at the Wyndham the night before attending a wedding at Clearwell Castle. There was a 2 hour gap between checking out of the Wyndham and checking into the castle. We were able to wait in the bar area at the Wyndham and the kitchen and reception staff were really kind and friendly and supplied us with tea and coffee while we waited.
The Wi-Fi connection kept dropping out but I understand that they had been experiencing problems with this so hopefully, this was only a temporary glitch and the mobile signal was good considering it is such a rural location. We were unable to eat in the hotel as the bar and restaurant are only open for pre booked events but they recommended the Butchers Arms which is a short walk from the Wyndham and the meal we had there was excellent.
post wedding breakfast was lovely. bed was so comfy, water in hotel room
Breakfast good, location good, easy to find.
We could not get an evening meal at the Wyndham, consequently had a very long walk in the rain to find a pub. The nearby pub was closed, not the fault of the Wyndham, but still inconvenient. Only other complaint was the lack of a non slip mat in the shower.
Location, privacy and parking
Squeeky beds, no one on reception on arrival.
For a remote check in and out it was very slick and trouble free. We attended a wedding at the castle and this venue was just perfect for it. Pre booking I had an admin issue but Ashleigh was super helpful and understanding. All in all a great experience and I love the organisation of it all. The cleaning team on the morning of our arrival were excellent and helped us with our timings so the room was ready for us to access in time for the wedding and getting changed etc.
Not far from the castle which I was attending a wedding.
Needed shower cap as shower couldn’t be held.
Did not stay for breakfast. Accommodation clean but very hot, no air con.
Did not stay for breakfast, felt accommodation was stand alone from hotel. Only staff seen were cleaners. Actual hotel and bar only open when hired. Family stayed at different venue a couple of miles away which was just as good if not better and significantly cheaper.
No air con no outside seating area hotel not open only reception and breakfast room.
Everything bit tired.
Location, size of bedroom and bathroom and staff
The toilet was too close to the wall, the shower floor was dangerously slippery and I had to move the tv to use the mirror as it was I front of it
We waited from 1330 until 1430 to try to check in, none of the contact numbers worked, our details were left open on the reception computer along with other guests in the hotel and the fire alarm was in fault. I then walked up to clearwell castle to see if there were any staff there. At 1500hrs a staff member came down and checked us in. We went up the stairs to our room and on entering the room, the beds were unmade and dirty laundry on the floor.
90 minutes to check in.
Breach of GDP
Poor fire safety RRO.
Room not made up and dirty.
Had to leave the venue, shower and change at the local golf club and drove home after the party as we had nowhere to stay. Please refund my money. Manager is aware.
Nothing worth mentioning
It was self check in so no staff. No food or drink only at the Castle up the road. Room was like a youth hostel and the shower was ineffective. Furniture definition needs an upgrade. Breakfast at the castle, included in our room price at the Wyndham, was a shambles. Self service in a gloomy very small area. Plates were side plates necessitating those who wanted more than 2 items filled with 2 plates or queue again. Food was acceptable at best. I have stayed in many places and am a frequent traveller, but the Wyndham, whatever star rating it has, is too high!
