Rooms spacious and clean. Staff friendly.
Norton House Hotel provided a green, picturesque oasis of calm on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Our room was elegant and comfortable, the food was delicious (highly recommend the Caesar salad and the haggis), and the staff were very helpful and polite (for example, between us checking in and learning the EV charger was down, to actually getting into our room, reception checked out whether an alternative charger was available at the park and ride and rang the room to tell us). The spa was also very good.
While our room was lovely, we did find the en suite a bit pokey and getting in and out of the bath was a bit of a squeeze. The hot water did go down one evening too, which wasn’t ideal.
Three days long, a staff (lady with glasses) would ask for my surname before breakfast, and every single day she forgot to give me the breakfast menu. As a result, I kept eating the same scrambled eggs and tomatoes, thinking that the hotel simply offered a very limited and repetitive breakfast.
On the last day of my stay, I discovered that other guests were actually ordering from a separate menu. When I expressed my disappointment, the staff member's only response was, "oh no!!" and no attempt to apology.
This experience negatively affected my overall impression of the hotel and significantly reduced my willingness to stay here again in the future.

It is located very close to Edinburgh Airport, but you feel like you're in the country.
Excellent experience as always. Service great. Staff friendly. Pool a great way to decompress after weeks hiking and playing golf.
The gardens, the breakfast
Slightly outdated , complex outlay: easy to get lost
Window would not stay open in the room - no aircon - had fan in the room but noisy.
Le cadre et la bâtisse
L’accueil de nos animaux
Location was key for us as we had to board an early morning plane. less than 10 minutes away from our car return and airport.
No doubt the property and Location were ideal. Nature was absolute Scotland, and the staff did their job. What would have made this exceptional property even better would’ve been if the staff enjoyed there job-I felt as if they were a bit annoyed no matter how pleasant we were.
