Schönes Restaurant
- Zimmer bei Direktbuchung 70 Dollar via Booking 50, auch das ist völlig überteuert
- Laufende Renovierungsarbeiten, daher überall Lärm und Dreck
- Zimmer katastrophal, ohne Komfort mit überall verschmutzten Wänden und Ameisenplage
Die Türen und Fenster sollten dringend erneuert werden, kein Schallschutz sehr viel Lärm, jeder Schritt im Gang kann gehört werden
- Im Zimmer kein WLAN auch ansonsten überall kaum Connection
- dringende Renovierung des gesamten Hauses erforderlich

Easy access to all the activities🥰
We found rafting, bike tours and bird watching in the area very easily. The staff were exceptional. They even tried to book train tickets and taxies for us. We requested a different room and they sorted it out. They made a great effort to make us comfortable and did a special surprise cake for our anniversary. The food was tasty and had a variety.
The hotel was a bit dated and doing renovations at the moment.
It says online that hotel can arrange activities but we were asked to check online and arrange our own activities.
It’s an old property not to latest standards but I think this is the best place to stay for an amazing experience and having the best view on the river.
The staff was very welcoming and sooo helpful. They even served the welcome drinks served us the dinner even we were very late.
Munasinghe & Stefani we very helpful. They kept the rooms super clean and maintained before we arrived.

Het Rest House neemt je moeiteloos mee terug in de tijd. De koloniale eetzaal met openslaande deuren, het uitzicht op de stevig stromende Kelani-rivier en de groene Makandawa-jungle: het voelt alsof je in een ander tijdperk bent beland.
Niet alles is perfect — een versleten deur, een gordijn aan een ijzerdraadje, een douchegordijn vastgezet met tie-wraps, een vervallen speeltuintje — maar juist dat geeft het charme. Vergane glorie met karakter.
Ondertussen ontbreekt het je aan niets: heerlijke bedden, een eigen koelkast, airco, warm water en een zitje aan de goed onderhouden tuin. Geen extreme luxe, maar alles wat telt is aanwezig.
Het is hier stil. Geen verkeer, geen drukte — alleen natuur. Een pontje brengt je op en neer over de rivier, alsof de tijd even pauzeert.
De lunch is uitgebreid en smaakvol, het personeel beleefd en oprecht betrokken. Als jij niet blij bent, zijn zij dat ook niet.
Er zijn plannen om het hotel op te knappen. Wat zal dat doen? Het karakter zal ongetwijfeld behouden blijven. Met deze locatie kan het alleen maar schitterender worden.
Een verblijf hier is geen doorsnee overnachting. Het is een ervaring: met sfeer, geschiedenis, rust en warmte. Even weg van alles — en toch precies waar je wilt zijn.
After reading the other reviews, I expected the worst, but it was much better than expected. The lovely check in staff gave us two neighbouring rooms which were spacious and air conditioned. The property grounds were big and clean.
Food choices were rather limited.

The staff and rooms are not meant for living. After we booked we found out from locals that this is not a guesthouse to stay in.

The hotel didnt seem to know we.were coming. They werent welcoming at all. They messed up the bill twice and had to charge us again. The hot water in the room want working so only had cold water.

the meal was decidedly average! but what looked to be reasonably priced food was given the tourist tax!!! Two tariffs the room very old and tatty ! Fridge didn’t work and shower was temperamental!
