The location just off the highway was good as we were headed elsewhere and didn't have to go into Mazatlán.
Right off the top the price was way, way too expensive for what we were given and then they asked an extra 300 pesos for our two cats. This was the priciest hotel that we stayed at for our entire 7 night trip including 5 nights in the States.
The breakfast was uninspired, warmed over, dry, scrambled eggs that could have been left over from the previous day, burned hot dog pieces, not enough refried beans that tasted a little stale, not enough pancakes, the chilaquiles were ok. Coffee was instant, no juice, no fruit, some yogurt, cold toast, Coco puffs, some kind of flakes.
Their main clientele seem to be truckers who most likely pay less than half of what we were charged.
The hotel is very large and mostly empty however they placed us right next to a unit that was being worked on and at 8 a.m. an angle grinder started up.
Cleaning was cursory as the previous kitty litter box placement was obvious as no one had bothered to sweep before running a mop over the area. There were other lack of cleaning signs scattered throughout the room. The toilet seat slid around. The air-conditioning didn't work well and was noisy. The tv was small for the space.
We are not picky people. We would have been happy paying 600 pesos for the night without extra charge for pets.
If they did a little more cleaning and kept the price down they may be able to fill all those empty units with people like us who are just traveling through. Instead they chose to charge luxury ocean front prices while being a long way from the ocean.
Convenient and clean and nice people
No morning coffee in the rooms, but they do serve breakfast unless you leave before
Too expensive for basic hotel - very minimal - this used to be a decent priced hotel but now way too expensive - Canadian prices for substandard hotel
Not clean-construction materials-morning staff not friendly - way too expensive - hotel almost empty because of price
El servicio de la recepción
Good location right off the Cuota. Good spot for dogs. Good parking. Very clean.
Two to three times more expensive than similar properties in Mazatlan. We paid $150 USD for 2 adults and one 12 pound dog. Sleep Inn, just down the road, charges about $60 to $65 USD. El Descando has raised their rates dramatically. We’ve stayed at El Descando twice a year for 10 years but I can’t justify continuing to throw away money just for nostalgia. Don’t think we’ll be back.
Photos must be fake. This place is grim. Room had nothing and was not vacuumed. Sink faucet was clogged. Bathroom door hit the toilet. Price should be 1/2 of what they charge.

Within 5 minutes of restaurants
Felt very safe
Staff was amazing
Pretty grim.
Way too expensive for what is offered. Not very clean. Construction iffy -- raw spaces around light fixtures and outlets. No coffee pot. No hair dryer. The price is more than double what a really good hotel in Mexico charges.
I like the location. Quick access off of the toll road. I also appreciated that they are accommodating to pets.
The hotel does say it includes breakfast with your fee, it isn’t served until 7:30am. Most people traveling through to a different destination are already in the road by then. It would be nice if they had coffee available earlier as there isn’t coffee available to you in your room. Although they accommodate pets, there is really no where to walk them to do their business.
Convenient. Clean. Easy check in and out. Pet friendly.
