Incredible food, wonderful welcome
Pros:

We ate at the restaurant here back in December, and the food , welcome and ambience were out of this world. Up there with the best food we've ever eaten and the owner was so friendly. Will definitely revisit when next in Germany and reccomend to anyone looking for delicious Swabian cuisine.

Pros:

Great place with a unique atmosphere
Which I recommend to everyone. Very well connected, rooms clean. Very delicious breakfast and homemade cheeses, cold cuts, warm fresh breads, etc. The owner is very polite and friendly welcomes guests together with his pets.

Rotten Hotel- Don't Believe Positive Reviews
Pros:

This hotel was listed on booking.com and for some reason had positive ratings. Like others have said, this place is a dump. According to the website this hotel was supposed to provide breakfast for 7 Euros a person. The old lady that runs the place refused to provide us breakfast service probably because we were one of the very few people that actually booked there. This place is not a hotel but a terrible hostel. There are no bathrooms in the rooms. You have to use a shared bathroom which is located on each floor of the building so make sure you bring your shower shoes. On booking.com, the place is advertised as having free parking. What this means really is you have to find a public parking spot. The hotel has no parking of its own. Another interesting thing that we found out is it the hotel is located right next to the tram tracks so don't expect to get a good sleep at night with the trains running constantly. One last thing is that the hotel will charge you 89 euros to cancel the reservation. Whatever you do I do not recommend you ever book this place. It is one of the crummiest hotels I have ever stayed at. The only thing that was missing surprisingly were the roaches.

A Great Family Owned Business !
Pros:

My wife & I stayed here last June while in Stuttgart. The Hotel is not affiliated with any chain and to me that was part of it's family owned charm. There is a lot of history with this hard working family and we enjoyed their warmth & friendship. It is a very quaint hotel and conveniently located near the train service. If you are looking for a quaint get away from the daily grind, I would highly recommend checking this out.

Easy to get to Mercedes Benz Museum
Pros:

Spent one night in the single room with shared toilet/bathroom. It's clean. 2 mins walk to U-Metzstrasse station, 3 stops away from main train station, Hauptbahnhof. Very convenient to go to Mercedes Benz Museum, 3 underground stops to Bad Cannstatt, then take bus 56. Less than 5 mins walk to groceries stall. Hotel owners are extremely friendly. They have a lovely dog (St.Bernard-kind, nice). Additional internet and breakfast charges. Overall, good stay.

Please don't come here~
Pros:

Never has a hotel service made me so angry that I have to write a review about them. It was a last minute booking for me to reserve hotel Köhler and I didn't notice that the last checked in time was at 9:30 PM. When I showed up to at the door at 10:30 PM, the owner of the hotel spoke through the intercom saying I was late therefore she refuses to let me check in, when they live right upstairs. Then she dismissed my request to use the phone to look for another hotel which leaves me stranded outside in the middle of the night. She also said she will fully charge me the room fee through booking.com as a “no show” therefore I will not be able to leave a review about my experience. It is quite upsetting for a traveler to run into an owner of a hotel with such unethical practice. Most strangers will lend a helping hand in a situation like this let alone a paying customer. I am writing this review to warn anyone to stop supporting their unethical behavior.

Good choice for stopover, steps away from Metzstraße stop
Pros:

I stayed in a room with 3 twin beds (2 pushed together, 1 on other side of room) and an en suite bathroom with shower. It was a large room and spacious bathroom. Nothing fancy. There are other rooms that share a toilette and another room with a toilette and shower.

My only complaint would be the pillow. It was a big square meter but very unsupportive. I had to fold mine to really get some support. Not a big deal though.

Breakfast was excellent for an extra 5€ with a variety of cold meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables, eggs, sausages, fruit, cereal.

When I checked in, the woman at the front desk was very helpful coordinating for me and meeting up with my family. She also recommended a good pub/restaurant.

Oh, they have a WONDERFUL, big, bernese mountain dog that hangs out in the lobby. Loved Copy!

Cozy familly hotel / Great value for the money
Pros:

I came to visit Stuttgart due to my father addmission to the hospital this June 2012. I have chosen the Koehler Hotel based on its reviews and ratings of tripadvisor and hotelbooking.com. Clearly, I was mainly after two things: the convenient location (Karl Olga Hospital, U Bahn, close proximity to the Centrum of Stuttgart, walking distance to the Villa Berg, Mineral Bath an Wilhelma) and secondly, as I was about to spend in Stuttgart about 2 weeks, I was looking for home feel-like place.
Koehler Hotel has it all. The place felt welcoming enough for me to not hesitate to come back again. As a single traveller I booked a single room with bathroom & toilet, which I found very neat and clean. The room was smallish but cozy feel, just what I needed. I aslo really enjoyed yummy german breakfast. The lovely bar and beer garden offer some nice local wine and beer.
The main asset of the hotel is surely Christa (the owner) and Danni her daughter. They both speak very good english and I found them very professional, helpful and friendly throughtout my entire stay.
Overal = great value for the money :)
P.S. Thank you very much for your welcomming hospitality!

We felt like being at home
Pros:

We stayed at Hotel Koehler in July 2011 . The hotel is clean. The breakfast buffet offers everything you need.
But the most important asset of this Hotel is Christa the owner, a warm hearted woman who makes you feel like at home.
We paid 75 EUR incl Breakfast which is a pretty good value for money.

Not Recommended
Pros:

I'm sorry, but this place was a dump. We were not happy to learn the biergarten is not open on weekends, and the area around the hotel is barren of any restaurants or charm. The buffet breakfast was under-par with other German hotel breakfasts that we had (which are already unsatisfying to us as Americans--cold cuts and cheese again???). We skipped it altogether in favor of a crossaint at the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) which is only a few stops away on the U-Bahn. (The hotel is right across the street from the Metzstrasse stop on line U-14.)

You can also reach the hotel via taxi from the Hauptbahnhof. It is only about a 5 minute taxi ride from there.

We rented a room with a shared bathroom, so perhaps that is where we went wrong. Just overall NOT a warm welcoming comfortable place. It just felt cheap. The "biergarten" which was closed but we could see behind the building was very small and unappealing. Just a few tables with only big buildings surrounding it. Just nothing charming at all about this place. Not recommended! We stayed at hostels much nicer than this!
