The location was spot on and enjoyable. The full Scottish breakfast was nice. Staff was pleasant. Parking was available and next to the building which was nice considering luggage. The bed was nice and slept well. Everything in the room was clean and had no concerns regarding cleanliness or safety. Check-in was quick and informal. This is an old building in a small town so one’s standards must adjust.
Renovations have been done but seem quick and basic. The tub shower wasn’t the best for us as it had high sides making getting in and out not easy and no where to hang the shower wand. However, the tub would be nice if you wanted a long soak. TV was a Roku. We weren’t able to figure how to watch basic tv channels. Only allowed things through apps which we didn’t have subscriptions to.
Friendly, family run hotel. Bedroom exceptionally clean. Warm atmosphere.
Location is perfect and the staff were amazing. They went out of their way to welcome us and ensure our room was warm
Parts of the property are a little ‘tired’ and some areas are cold
We got caught in heavy snowfall on our way south and were looking for a place to hunker down for the night. We found this place, booked it spontaneously, and honestly did not expect much. What a pleasant surprise!
We were welcomed with exceptional hospitality. To warm up the room quickly, a mobile heater was brought in. In the evening, we enjoyed a delicious Indian dinner. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and both the bedroom and bathroom stayed warm and cozy throughout the night.
Before we left, we were treated to a generous breakfast and waved goodbye with the best wishes. In a difficult situation, this place truly felt lifesaving. The hosts were incredibly kind and friendly, and we are very grateful for their warmth and care.
My impression is that this place is currently undergoing many improvements, with renovations and updates in progress. I am confident the hosts have a great sense for what they are doing, and we wish them every success.
Lovely staff, cute little quiet village, fantastic breakfast. We stayed in one of the rooms which had not been refurbished, so it was a little dated. That said, one member of our party stayed in one of the new rooms, and have to say, it was very nicely done up. Not sure how you book one of the new rooms however, as we had reserved a deluxe room and we weren't put in one. Looking forward to coming back when the refurbishment has been finished throughout.
Venison stew is excellent 👌
Convenient location to event we were attending in the Glenlivet Estate. Staff were friendly and helpful with our requests and we dined at the hotel restaurant both evenings which had freshly cooked options for all the family. Tasty breakfast included in our stay also.
The new towels
Everything else it was very shabby for £143 per night and the Indian restaurant for a meal was expensive and very disappointing, not to usual Indian standards
Clearly, the hotel is going through a period of renovation after years of neglect by previous owners, however they’re doing a grand job and by the look of the rooms they’ve already renovated, it’s going to be great when they’ve finished.
They looked after me very well, and have no complaints. Found myself very unwell, and they took the effort to move me to another room where it was felt I’d be more comfortable
Very comfortable room overlooking quiet square. It's an old hotel which has been modernised in parts. Good Indian restaurant and friendly, helpful staff.
Stairs and corridors feel a bit gloomy - maybe need better lighting?
Clean and comfortable beds. Good power to shower. Friendly staff.
The room was in terrible condition (although clean). Stained faded carpet, disused plug sockets, shelves hanging off wall, patched up walls, no ventilation (window sealed shut and no bathroom vent) cold, no artwork or decoration, grimy old bathroom with mouldly grout, rickety furniture, shabby.
Clean sheets and towels and hot water
No TV in the room , heating in the room electric heaters should be put in the skip definitely passed there sell by date , decor poor , plaster coming off the wall in the bedroom , wallpaper coming off the wall in the dining room.
The lady in them dinning room was very abrupt.
The price we payed for one night was a total RIP off
It was clean
Very shabby and dated hotel.
No curtains or blinds over a large bathroom window, and the bedroom curtain rail fell off the wall.
TV didn't work, no remote provided.
A number of staff couldn't speak English making communication difficult.
Food was cold of both cooked breakfast and evening meal. Quality of food at evening meal was poor..
Not value for money.
