Ok stay but has the potential to be so much better!
Pros:

The spa facilities were good, the reception and bar areas were very pleasant and the staff particularly within the bar areas were very hospitable.

Cons:

The bed within my bedroom was horrific, probably one of the worst I’ve ever had. Paper thin, springs digging in to my back and really uncomfortable to sleep in. By the time I got in to bed at 11pm it wasn’t an appropriate time to get this sorted. The overall standard of the room was very dated and could better like that of other golf hotels within Scotland. The food wasn’t great either within the restaurant.

Very disaapointing
Cons:

I recently stayed at Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa and unfortunately the experience fell far below expectations, especially for a hotel associated with such a renowned golf course.

Mornings were consistently disrupted by loud maintenance noise directly outside the window — first a leaf blower, followed by a power washer. This made it impossible to rest and felt completely avoidable with better scheduling.

The in-room experience was also disappointing. The TV stopped working while we were watching a show and remained unusable for nearly 24 hours. There was no fridge in the room, which is a basic amenity many travelers expect. The phones didn’t work either, making it difficult to contact reception.

Food options were another major letdown. The 24-hour café menu is extremely limited and overpriced — £14 for a cold sandwich with no option to heat it is simply unreasonable, and just plain lazy, it’s so simple to have decent items that can be made quickly and taste great for guests to have at any time, to have crap on the menu and charge an arm and a leg for it speaks volumes about the thought of the guest experience. Given the hotel’s remote location with few nearby alternatives, the lack of decent, accessible food options is unacceptable.

Basic necessities were also lacking. There was no water refill station, meaning guests are forced to pay £4.50 for bottled water. Small details like this make a big difference and reflect poorly on guest care, also no complementary bottles of water in the room upon entry.

Comfort was compromised by very poor-quality pillows — flat and uncomfortable — which affected sleep quality.

There were also ongoing maintenance issues that should have been better managed. The women’s locker room doors were being painted during active hours, which is disruptive and inconvenient as well as toxic smelling.

The hotel has lost quality in most areas since new ownership
Pros:

Good breakfast
Staff was pleasant. .

Cons:

Room was freezing when we arrived. The mattress was lumpy and I could feel the springs(same as last time i stayed there!!).
There were no robes available. You have spa. I have never been in a hotel with a spa that did have robes in ALL rooms.
I was informed I could rent one.
I asked for a taxi to be called, and was instead shown a list of numbers to call. Again..in 20 years of travel I have never been denied by a hotel to call for a taxi.

Very comfortable and relaxing, staff were very friendly
Pros:

The sports bar and leisure facilities were great

Cons:

The furniture in the rooms were quite tired and worn (visible holes in the chair). These could do with a refresh
Also, only 1 lift appeared to be working which meant a lot of waiting, especially when groups arrived

Carnoustie stay
Pros:

I liked it. Very friendly and helpful staff. The leisure centre was nice. The room could do with a bit of an upgrade from the old wooden furniture, but overall a very good experience. And i would go back.

Cons:

Only the furniture, also the menu can do with more options.

great place to spend fab time resting in spa or active in gym and walking around.
Pros:

clean quire large size standard room, well equipped and clean new refurbished bathroom. Very polite and helpfull recepcionist, clean facilities, well equupped gym with nice wiev over golf course and working AC, large carpark, short walk distance to few town restaurants, bars and shops, form hotel bar took only good coffee but both restaurant and bar looks good. swimming pool very nice and clean with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room highly recommend. Few interesting places within 30min drive (or use a bus/train)

Cons:

swimming pool photos on website and booking.com are not realistic - in life is much smaller than on the photos and could be busy in weekends and peak time.

Super location and service
Pros:

We booked the day of our stay because we were bikepacking. The hotel was amazing at accommodating our needs, letting us check in early, amend to a double bed and storing our bikes in our room.

There’s an onsite swimming pool with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi that you can use before checking in and after checking out on the day of your stay.

There’s was also a bar with ample seating. The price was standard hotel prices ~£15-25 a dish. It’s also close to town which has a few small shops, a beach and a park.

Kyle was on the reception desk when we checked in and he was fabulous at explaining everything and helping us with our belongings.

Cons:

Nothing!
