A decent and unique stay near the Parikkala statue park
Pros:

I liked the look of the building and the peaceful surroundings. There's a swimming beach nearby. The staff was accommodating about our late late check-in. Breakfast was included. The back of the building has a nice terrace with seating overlooking a small quiet lake. The room was decent size and the beds were good.

Cons:

The bathroom had a damp smell to it. The breakfast was self service and available at least until 11. By 10 am the available goods were mostly gone so we had to take what was left.

I would stay at the Hotel Kagone again
Pros:

I enjoyed my three breakfasts at the Hotel Kagone there was plenty of choice.

Characterful and convenient stay near to Parikkala
Pros:

A warm welcome and comfortable rooms in a characterful lodge right by the main road (check out the wolf when you walk into the restaurant!) There is a large terrace at the rear with steps leading down to a lake which (had it not been raining when we stayed) would be a lovely place to enjoy a drink. Breakfast was a 'make your own' affair but lots choice (cereals / coffee / sandwiches) available.

Cons:

Restaurant closes at 6pm (this is also reception so ensure you check with the host if arriving later as they can make alternative check-in arrangements). There are limited choices in nearby Parikkala for eating / drinking so you may want to bring your own supplies.
