The ambience at Alta Las Paloma is a refreshing change from the run of the mill hotels.
Pros:

The restaurant was amazing!! Best food we had in the two months spent in Costa Rica. The staff (front desk and waiters) were super friendly and willing to help in any way they could. The view was beautiful and I especially liked our private terrace where we ate a delicious breakfast.

Cons:

This hotel is lovely but not a good place to stay if you have a handicap. There are lots of steps and no hand rails in many areas. Navigating to the restaurant or pool from our room was dimly lit and a bit confusing. The rooms are small and the water in the shower was lukewarm warm and the floor quite slippery.

Beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff.
Pros:

It's a lovely property. The lobby, restaurant and pool areas are exceptionally beautiful, and there is a nice view down the valley. The rooms had robes and slippers and magnifying mirrors (all a bonus in my opinion), and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were huge and comfortable and there was a large patio off the room. The rooms were also very spacious. Having the wildlife refuge nearby was a plus and we enjoyed our visit there.

Cons:

The downsides for us were the air conditioner that was extremely noisy and clunked on and off all night long, and the prices of the food in the restaurant. Breakfast in particular was very pricy for the very small amount of food we received. You also need to be prepared that it is a bit out of town and there isn't too much nearby, although we did find a local restaurant just a short walk away that had good food for good prices.

Cons:

No nos dieron la habitación pactada, lo confirme en 2 ocasiones, incluso una semana antes de la estancia y cuando llegamos nos dieron otra habitación, para nosotros era importante la habitación que habíamos elegido porque era nuestra boda ese día.

Das Personal sowohl am Empfang als auch im Restaurant war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Das Restaurant war auch gut. Empfangs- und Restaurantbereich waren von der Ausstattung her ansprechend. Man fühlt sich wie auf einem alten Landsitz, was sicherlich so gewollt und auch in Ordnung ist, wenn man das Konzept konsequent durchgezogen hätte.

Cons:

Da wir nur eine Zwischenübernachtung gebucht hatten, haben wir auch nur ein normales Doppelzimner gebucht. Bei einem angeblichen 5*Sternehotel kann man erwarten, dass das für eine Nacht ausreichend und komfortabel ist. Leider war dem überhaupt nicht so. Wir fuhren mit dem Aufzug runter in den 2. Stock (Hotel ist am Hang) und gingen durch endlos lange, dunkle Kellerflure, bis wir dann unser Zimmer, das letzte vor der Außenpoolanlage, erreicht hatten. Es war gelinde gesagt ein dunkles Loch, das sich anfühlte wie ein Kellerverlies. Dunkel und modrig, alte verschlissene Möbel und ein ebenso dunkles, fensterloses Bad. Der Poolbereich war ebenfalls völlig lieblos, der Garten ungepflegt. Wir waren froh, als wir am nächsten Tag wieder weiterfahren konnten.

Fantastic hotel to chill. A mellow vibe.
Pros:

Really quite quirky. Fabulous bedroom with large balcony. The food was good with a lot of variety.
Very friendly and helpful staff.

Cons:

The location could have been better but really easy to get an Uber.
