Jeg kunne ikke lide noget ved dette hotel. Der var beskidt, ingen sengetøj, beskidte håbdklæder, vandflaskerne vi fik udleveret lugtede af fisk. I særdeleshed er forfærdeligt hotel.

I am extremely unhappy with my experience at this hotel. I booked a specific room in advance, but when I arrived, they did not provide the room I had reserved. There was no proper explanation, and no effort from the staff to fix the issue. This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. On the top of that, the lift was out of service and they gave us a room on the 3rd floor.

I will not be booking here again and do not recommend this hotel to anyone who expects reliable service.

Dear Booking.com Customer Support Team,
I would like to formally complain about Kings Gate Airport Transit Hotel, Katunayake (Sri Lanka), which I booked through your platform.
When we arrived in Colombo, the airline did not provide a transit hotel due to an economy ticket. Immigration required a hotel booking, so I booked this hotel as it was shown as being close to the airport (around 1 km). The booking price was USD 21, with free cancellation until 6:00 pm.
We reached the hotel around 12:30 pm. Check-in time was 2:00 pm, so we politely requested to see the room first before waiting. The hotel was in very poor condition. The cleaning staff could not communicate in English and asked us to speak to a man on the phone.
At around 1:30 pm, a young man arrived wearing very dirty clothes and showed us the room. The room was extremely dirty, unhygienic, and completely different from the photos shown on Booking.com. Due to hygiene and safety concerns, we clearly said that we did not like the room and would cancel.
Instead of behaving professionally, the staff member became angry and aggressive and shouted at us saying “Get out!” This behavior was shocking, humiliating, and unacceptable—especially for international travelers who were strangers in the country.
We left quietly to avoid any conflict. Just a few steps away, we found another hotel offering a clean room with a master bed for USD 10, which shows how misleading this listing is.
I strongly request Booking.com to:
- Investigate this property seriously
- Take action regarding staff behavior and hygiene standards
- Reconsider allowing this hotel to remain listed on your platform to protect future travelers
This experience caused unnecessary stress and discomfort during international transit.

Booked the hotel just as a rest stop whilst I was waiting for my flight. Would recommend if you just need a place to stay for one day whilst waiting for your flight or if you land at awkward times and just need somewhere to rest for up to a day

I don't recommend you to book this place at all, even for just a few hours.
Cons:

The hotel is near the airport, that's the only good thing about it. The staff is all about squeezing more money from you. The water in the shower is cold, no heater. We did not feel safe at all.
