GOOD VALUE AT DISCOUNTED RATE - NEEDS TLC.
Pros:

The hotel has a certain charm, that needs refreshing, and some tlc, (tender loving care).
Staff are sociable, helpful and able to hold a conversation.

Errors in understanding occassionally occurred.
They do not listen fully to the order requirement.
You get what everyone has always got, until it's explained in more detail.

The rooms are more than adequate, having balconies on lower floor, with good shower and toilet space.
Beds were good, although only 1 pillow provided.

The breakfast was adequate to good covering most wants, although cereal had to be requested as not offered.

It requires someone with passion to get to grip with dusting, polishing and hygiene as current practices are sloppy. Typical slack quality of work experienced in most hotels.

Overall we would use it again should they offer the room at the discounted rate we obtained, but not at the full rate typically shown.

Oddly, the wall fitted noticeboard with useful details is situated beyond the entrance door, so unless you walk past the entrance you would never know it's there. Bizarre.

Cons:

The room (103) has a large window view, with a balcony, but the windows are not private, so curtains had to be closed all the time.
Room was larger than typically found.

The in room facilities were just for show, kettle broken, minimum milk additive and no good sized cups.
The room doors have not seen a Polish rag since they were fitted.
Fancy embellishments on the internal doors clearly show they do not get dusted, or polished.
AC controller had to be found, with working batteries.
Light fittings are either up or down.

An indication of penny-pinching was the 200ml water supplied gratuitously - enough to brush your teeth only.

The dining room is an oven heat nightmare, as the ac only works at end wall, the ceiling fans just push hot air around.
Some chairs are old and need replacing.

Waiters are frequently interrupting you to check if you need more of anything and should you blink the plate would be taken.

Their is a feel of just make it work at the minimal effort.

Pros:

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Zimmer sehr sauber und die Klimaanlage war echt leise. Hatten einen schönen Balkon, ein Herz für Raucher. Frühstück war lecker 😋.Betten sehr groß und bequem.

Az személyzet beszél angolul és segítőkész. Biztosított számunkra egy tuk-tuk vezetőt aki, minden kérésünket korrekt módon teljesített, bár nem volt olcsó. Az épület koloniál stílusú, elegáns, a szoba teraszát szerettük.

Cons:

A falak frissen festettek, a bútorzat azonban rossz állapotú. A fürdő helyiség minősége csak elégséges. A szoba ajtótól pár méterre volt az étterem, minden zaj behallatszott. Sajnos egy 20 fős lengyel társaság is lakott a hotelben, minden este kiabáltak, csapkodták az ajtónkkal szemben lévő közös terasz ajtaját. Elviselhetetlen volt. A Hotelnek nem lett volna szabad a közös terasszal szembeni, egy méterre lévő szobát kiadni. Egyik éjszaka sem tudtunk pihenni.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. How the Isabel got a rating over 3.5 is beyond me. The price was modest, the bed comfortable—although my friend’s sheets had holes, and ink stains. The shower did not have a drain, nor any barrier to prevent water from running across the rest of the bathroom. The hotel kindly placed a long handled squeegee (with a filthy handle) in the bathroom so that guests could squeegee the shower water from the floor to the one drain beneath the bathroom sink. The toilets were western style.

The staff attempted to be helpful given the constraints of filth and apparently no cleaning staff.

On the plus side, the food served in the dining room was tasty. I did not see the kitchen, however. I am male, and my traveling partner is female.
We had separate rooms. We did eat together. This might be a cultural thing in India, but, when the waiter came to our table he only addressed me. It was as if my friend was invisible. He also called me “boss,” which would be a matter of indifference if I were alone.

The gift shop was nicely arranged, reasonably priced, and had a friendly man operating it.

If you are really on a budget, this place is for you. If you want a normal hotel, pass on the Isabel. My friend refuses to recommend the Isabel under any circumstances and would not stay there even if the rooms were free. When I was young and broke, I would have stayed here a second time. Not now.

Lovely place to stay in quite location. Walking distance to main attractions.
