Värden släppte in oss redan på morgonen antagligen för att det inte var så många gäster. Vi ville bara lämna in vårt bagage
Location was perfect. Breakfast was not available
The light on the mirror in the bathroom did not work. A towel rail in the bathroom would be useful. Limited channels on the TV. No BBC 1 or 2.
The room was basic but ok and initially would have met our needs of somewhere to get a nights sleep and was nearby a venue we were attending. On closer inspection having lifted the mattress protector there were a lot of stains below, not acceptable, so we left and booked another hotel which as a last minute booking was a distance away from the venue and expensive.
Nothing
Room was too small with a double bed pushed against a wall one side.
En suite has glass doors so absolutely no privacy when on the toilet or in the shower. The shower itself was dirty and poorly maintained and leaked under the door onto the carpet. 2 spare pillows provided but no pillow cases to put on them. Will not stay again.
It was clean
Room 10 up 3 flights of stairs then a spiral staircase into the roof space. It needed the finishing touches finishing, trim round the door in bathroom, bad smell in bathroom, bedroom door peeling and blistering, hole in the wall with large amount of cables hanging out, 2 large Metal plates sticking out off a beam down the side of the bed very dangerous.
Emergency light over the bed with a green standby light that turned the room green when the lights were out and some sort of electrical device that bleeped every 20 minutes.
And to top it off a compressed gas cylinder in the chest of draws very dangerous.
Nice decor comfy bed and seats great tv
Location, Clean and Tidy.
1. Room access was a real problem. Though the reception door at the back of the property was open I had real difficulty accessing the room and there was absolutely no one to assist.
I only found the room access device accidentally (on the small door handle) and it was tiny. I had to return to my car to get my reading glasses and even then I struggled to read it and enter the 8 digit code from my phone..
Once in, I put a small bag in; turned my back and the door swung shut and locked me out. Had I dropped my phone inside I would have been completely locked out with no means of re entry. This prospect was not funny.
Also I booked for two nights and only enough milk to have one hot drink per day and not a single biscuit or snack, (or shop nearby). The Restaurant on the ground floor was also closed and it was a Saturday evening.
.
Also the step to get in and out of the shower room was a hazard especially when dark.
Afterthought..
Had the Access code stopped working at the appointed time on departure, I could easily have been locked out while loading my car had I been just few minutes late. There was no margin for error.
No complaints
No staff around but it wasn't a problem
easy checkout just close the door and your done.
We were confronted by a couple youths just outside the property which was very unpleasant. The town itself is a little more run down than we expected but that's not the properties fault.
First and foremost, the obvious care and attention to detail in turning a sadly failed pub business into a welcoming oasis of Thai culture in the heartland of England. No expense appears to have been spared in what must have been a challenging restructuring of the interior within and carefully retaining the historic building fabric with detailed craftsmanship embracing both modern technology and traditional Thai decor. The 1cm porcelain hand tiled bathroom was beautifully done.
Secondly, the room was scrupulously clean and the bedding was fragrant of jasmine. And soft and lush.
Being a bit dumb I didn't quite understand the entry instructions (but the proprietor was there anyway just in case). The new owners probably didn't have a choice, but the original "Old Mill Freehouse" sign on the outside is a bit confusing as that business doesn't exist anymore and I didn't know which door to access. The room key pad is dark until you tap it. And then the text message makes sense (again, "duh!" me).
Place was very nice clean had a fun and air-conditioning very modern very nice customer service they bring tea and sugar extras on my last day very nice restaurant downstairs
