We had the most wonderful six nights at the Maji after a week on safari, and it was phenomenal from top to bottom. It was my first time coming to a small boutique beachfront property and the relaxed vibes, privacy, and personalised service were such a treat.
The luxurious waterfront cabanas are spacious and comfortable (with no pushing for beach beds like at larger hotels!), the food was insanely good (we were on half board but the enormous breakfast and three course dinner were more than enough!), and the balcony from our room (room 6) was the best for reading and relaxing.
This place manages to be so chic and tastefully decorated while being extremely low key and never stuffy: you can’t help but be completely zoned out from reality while here enjoying the hospitality.
Massive shoutout to Jackson, Duncan, Caroline and Zippy for taking such good care of us throughout our trip. From kindly posting our postcards to arranging our airport transfers to exchanging our cash for shillings, nothing was too much for the team.
Would come back in a heartbeat and will remember this haven of bliss and relaxation for a long time.
Everything was truly amazing and we are so so grateful to have experienced the Maji’s hospitality throughout. If I had to suggest improvements, they would be:
- more frequent afternoon beachside table service for drinks etc, staff were a little hard to find by the afternoon
- more updated gym facilities, the treadmill wasn’t working and the equipment was basic and dated
- not their fault, but the hassle of the beach boys on the beach grew tiresome, as did the loud music from the beachside restaurant next door
But nothing in comparison to how perfect everything about our stay truly was!!
The staff are super helpful and so lovely, including the ground and security staff. Breakfast was beautiful and very plentiful.
Maybe consider having some background music in the bar for ambience and updating the cocktail list? Also some more activities or board games for when it’s raining all day perhaps? There really wasn’t anything to dislike though.

El alojamiento es espectacular, las instalaciones, el personal, la atención, la comida y el entorno que le rodea. Estuvimos tres noches, disfrutando nuestra luna de miel después de realizar una semana de safari y sin duda, ha sido la mejor elección. El staff es cercano, atento y muy amable, pendientes siempre de hacer de tu estancia una maravillosa experiencia, estamos muy agradecidos.

Ruhiges gemütliches Hotel mit extrem freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Personal! Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und immer zur Stelle.
Etwas zu teuer für den Standard den man in der Preiskategorie erwartet. Sobald man das Hotelgelände in Richtung Strand verlässt, wird man von Strandverkäufern belagert. Zudem hat man uns 30$ Korkgeld berechnet für eine mitgebrachte Champagner Flasche. 10$ Hätten es auch getan.
Cosy hotel with easy access to the beach and other areas in Diani. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the ‘no rules’ policy with regards to eating time. The 24hr service was a great touch.
The rooms are bit dated - bathrooms in particular. The shower water pressure was low.
Think the pricing of the accommodation was excessive.
The service was top-notch! Breakfast was amazing. Dinner the same. Menu was well curated and meals were well cooked and absolutely delicious.
Fantastic setting, wonderful rooms and pool that sweeps around this great Boutique Hotel. All the staff were excellent and friendly, they clearly enjoyed their jobs as well as excellent training. The Chef made fantastic meals, including Tuna carpaccio and Lobstwr Thermidor. Fantastic Hotel!
