Restaurant menu very disappointing. Poor communication between hotel & booking platform.
Pros:

I have previously stated at this hotel. The leisure facilities - swimming pool were good. The rooms were reasonably comfortable. Buffet breakfast was good.

Cons:

This hotel is being taken over by another company. We were not informed of this. Information re our booking did not appear to be evident within hotel IT booking system. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday & expected the restaurant menu to be the same as a previous visit. We were very disappointed. The menu was 3 very basic standard items for starter/main/dessert. No staff on reception for checking out. We would not use this hotel again.

Not as good as it used to be
Pros:

Young waiting staff were very attentive and efficient.

Cons:

No wi-fi working in the room for the whole week. Reception staff not really bothered. There for 4 nights, room wasn't serviced. Water not hot. Waited hours for teabags! Not as good as it used to be

Pros:

Quiet location. Nice building and main already warm and welcoming.

Cons:

Room very stuff and dusty. Very strange smell. Staff spoke bare minimum at check-in and check-out. Breakfast was OK on first day, but not much choice on second day, although we were early. Shame, as the hotel has great potential.

Cons:

The check in was much later than it was supposed to be this was less than great whilst I had two kids with me. If I was made aware about the situation I wouldn’t have left Edinburgh for our check in at 3pm hanging around for several hours waiting on check in was unacceptable.

I completely understand that this was not the staff member on duties responsibility or fault.

Don’t think I could recommend this hotel
Pros:

The bed was lovely

Cons:

The reception staff weren’t particularly friendly. The cold water in the washhand basin tap only produced hot water. The curtains in our room were disgusting.
My partner asked for two poached eggs for breakfast— twice,but the chef wasn’t able to produce them for some unknown reason.

Awful, dirty place with rude manager
Pros:

Nothing at all

Cons:

Everything. Absolutely terrible. Toilet was covered in broken plaster and debris. No pillows on the bed. Asked to move rooms and the had no availability which was fair enough but nothing was done about the dirt or pillows. Requested to speak to a manager who rudely said he was too busy to deal with the situation.

Friendly staff, everyone was very welcoming and accommodating. Our room was spacious and clean. We had a big bath. We also loved the spa facilities and the pool. Dinner and breakfast was tasty with large portions.

Die Lage war sehr schön ruhig und die Betten waren ok.

Cons:

Im Zimmer meiner Kinder ließ sich das Fenster nicht öffnen, im Zimmer meiner Eltern ließ sich die Tür auf den Rasen nicht ganz schließen. Die Dame an der Rezeption war recht uninteressiert und das Einchecken dauerte ewig… Für eine Nacht völlig ok, aber länger wäre es jetzt nichts für uns gewesen
