Wouldn't go back, but I'd buy it.
Pros:

In the right hands, this would be a beautiful hotel.

Cons:

The staff (I'm guessing the owner) had absolutely no idea about WiFi. I tried 3 rooms, all with no WiFi signal. The was defiant and obtuse. Breakfast was abismal (I foolishly saw "breakfast included" and didn't look to see what it was. It was awful, and no cooked breakfast.

Thankfully only one night and won’t stay again
Pros:

The old grandeur of the place - a long time ago it must have been an amazing house, but not now…..

Cons:

Came in a door / corridor that was full of materials as reception was not clearly signed - there was no one fit to book us in, we were asked to go pick a room?
Given no info on the room, breakfast, wifi and the folder in the room just had takeaway info in it.
Lots of things not working or damaged lights, hair dryer, bathroom fan etc
Road noise from M74 was loud and continuous.
We were left wondering if the fire alarms, emergency lights were fully functioning and hoped there wasn’t a fire!!

Great overnight stop at a very historic house, tastefully renovated.
Pros:

Excellent location, very handy for A74(M). Lovely lady. Room spotlessly clean. Quirky very interesting old property with some beautiful internal features. Lovely reception, bar area and dining room. Slept well.

Cons:

Very tired looking on the outside, lovely inside. No food available in the evening but we knew that so took our own. Breakfast only continental but good: boiled eggs, croissant, cheese, meats, melon etc.

Pros:

The family that run the hotel are lovely, the grounds were lovely to walk in. Bed was very comfortable and good linen. The grounds are in the process of being cleared and replanted as it had become run down

Cons:

Motorway noise when outside, but couldn't hear it inside. Tv needs putting on the wall as couldn't see it once in bed

Pros:

Friendly hosts (and dog!). Spacious room and comfortable beds.

Cons:

Limited food and drink options in the local area (more in Lockerbie 6 miles away). No bath mat and close to A74, so a bit of traffic noise. Signage could have been better (I ended up in the kitchen!)

Waarde van het verleden
Pros:

Prachtige setting. Authentiek antiek landhuis met mooie ruime kamers. Zeer vriendelijke eigenaren. Jammer dat we de volgende ochtend alweer door moesten. Ademt de karakteristieke sfeer van vroeger.

Cons:

Niks.
