Lake Wave Hotel

The host was super helpful and did organise all our tours for us. Breakfast and dinner was exceptional, best food I had in Sri Lanka so far.

Milan is an excellent host. Both the breakfasts and dinners were excellent. The location on the lake is a beautiful setting.

Very helpful and attentive staff who arranged all our trips with excellent drivers and guides at a good price. Great location by lake with good cafes and restaurants nearby. Comfortable room which was great value.

Lovely home made Sri Lankan Breakfast. Including tropical fruits and Sri Lankan polpani pancakes and halapa. Milan was very helpful.

We hadden dit hotel geboekt omdat in de reviews werd gezegd dat Milan zo’n goede gastheer is en bij binnenkomst meteen voorstellen heeft over hoe deze mooie stad aan te vallen. En dat was ook zo. We hebben ons twee dagen erg verwend gevoeld. Milan regelde de eerste dag een tuktuk naar Mihintale, de tweede dag een uitstekende gids/chauffeur voor een tocht langs alle bezienswaardigheden van Anuradhapura. Dit alles voor een redelijke prijs, die we rechtstreeks aan de gids/chauffeur zelf betaalden.
Het eten was fantastisch. De moeder van Milan kookt en hij vond het leuk om te proberen ons iets voor te schotelen wat we in de dik drie weken daarvoor niet hadden gehad. Dat lukte. Ondanks dat we in Sri lanka overal heerlijk gegeten hebben kregen we gisterenavond de lekkerste maaltijd tot nu toe. De kamer is ook mooi, de tuin fijn. Kortom, we kunnen dit hotel aan iedereen aanbevelen!

Très bon emplacement, face au lac. Très bon petit déjeuner et dîner. Personnel très sympathique.

Super accueil, Milan a toujours été de bon conseil pour l’organisation de notre séjour, mention spéciale pour les repas et les petits-déjeuners traditionnels préparés par sa maman qui sont divins ☺️

Superaardige gastheer die inzet op de beleving. Dat doet Milan heel goed. Hij wil en kan alles voor je regelen. Er moeten nog stap voor stap verbeteringen worden aangepakt. Hij wil het vooral heel kleinschalig houden, na een financieel moeilijke periode. Hij heeft voor ons een fietstocht en een tuktuk tocht van de bezienswaardigheden geregeld.

Alles klopte maar vooral gastheer Milan was fantastisch 👏😊

This hotel truly exceeded our expectations. The manager goes above and beyond for guests, always taking the time to explain trips, local attractions, and the surrounding area. It’s clear he genuinely cares about helping people, which builds real trust and makes your stay feel personal and welcoming.
Our safari experience was absolutely incredible. The Jeep driver was brilliant — going out of his way to ensure we saw as many animals as possible. Thanks to his dedication, we saw leopards, crocodiles, bears, birds, and many more.
The driver who transported us to the safari was the safest we experienced in Sri Lanka. We felt so comfortable and secure that we chose to use him again for our return journey.
When we arrived, the tour was very informative, and the guide shared a lot of valuable knowledge. One of the highlights was visiting the temple in the evening, where we witnessed a beautiful local religious ceremony and offerings made to the Buddha — a truly memorable cultural experience.
The hotel itself is lovely, with a peaceful setting overlooking a lake, making it a relaxing place to unwind after a day of adventure.
Most of all, we left feeling like we had made genuine friends, not just stayed at a hotel.
Highly recommended for both the exceptional service and the unforgettable experiences.

Milan and his family did their utmost to make a pleasurable stay turn into an unforgettable experience. we were provided with lots of valuable information regarding attractions in the area.

when required, we were given the service of a knowledgable guide (who never detoured to “an interesting shop”) or were provided enough information to successfully do our own thing.

But the outstanding feature of the Lake Wave are the meals. after sampling the first dinner we immediately decided to have all our meals at the hotel. in a country famous for the quality of its cooking, Milan‘s mother topped them all. be it breakfast or dinner, we always chose Sri Lankan cuisine and in our four week stay in Sri Lanka we had it never better than during the four days we sampled the food at the Lake Wave. a truly exeptionable experience. it‘s a must!

Milan is a great help for all the activities that I want to do.

Milan is super vriendelijk, helpt je overal bij en zorgt er voor dat je het zo comfortabel mogelijk hebt. Locatie is top aan het meer. Mooie tuin waar je ook kan relaxen in de hangmat of lekker kan zitten.

El trato del personal. Nos ayudaron en todo (safari, consejos de visitas, tuk-tuk...) con excelente organización. Cena y desayunos excelentes, comida local, y además con explicaciones de cada plato y de los ingredientes. La situación muy adecuada, lejos del bullicio y cerca del lago.
