we loved everything about staying at Freedom Kata! The staff was extremely kind and the room was wonderful. We had a balcony which was a nice bonus! The location is great because you can easily walk to Kata Beach but its just far enough from the hustle and bustle of the beach shops. There are many restaurants around that are less crowded and less expensive than the ones on the main strip. we recommend the place 3 doors down with the pool table for crab fried rice!
You do have to turn off the air conditioning when you leave which was a bit annoying considering how hot it gets but once you turn it back on, it cools the room up real quick! also our shower was almost never hot or even warm but we got so sunburnt we didnt mind!

Location is great, the property is close to beach, shops and restaurants (as are many other properties).
Room size is good, quadruple room easily fitted our family of 4: 2 adults and 2 kids
Room did not look maintained, there were stains on the walls from leaks/mold, the bedsheets looked old and not fresh(even though they were washed)
The bathroom flush button was getting stuck, tap was leaking - I did not complain or inform as the person cleaning the room would have definitely noticed and i was outside of the room most of the day and did not want to be bothered about changing room, moving luggage etc
Only one set of towels for entire stay of 3 nights- not sure if this is the policy of all hotels in the area, but I was expecting one set of clean towels every day of the stay

The room was spacious, and I had booked the balcony option, which was worth the extra cost. I stayed 3 nights on the 3rd floor, and there’s no lift, so be prepared for stairs. The hotel sits right above a 7‑Eleven, which is convenient, and it’s next to a restaurant that opens at 7 a.m.—great for early tour days. The staff were friendly, though the manager or owner felt a bit distant and even forgot me twice, once asking again for my passport and another time thinking I was checking out early. The location is great: about a 10‑minute walk to Kata Beach with plenty of restaurants and shops around, and roughly 30 minutes from Patong. Overall, it’s a practical, well‑located choice for a short stay.
The owner/manager wasn’t very friendly, and some of the furniture felt a bit worn, in addition to a hard mattress, which seems fairly common in Thailand.
