Pros:

Breakfast was good. The omelet bar and service was great! The staff members were very accommodating and friendly. Toro and Harley were great bar tenders!

The room was very comfortable and clean, nice patio, bed comfortable. The breakfast was good, the restaurant was nice. The pool was beautiful and perfect temperature.

Cons:

The only complaint was that there were not enough pool chairs and/or beach chairs for the guests. The first of two days we were there, we had no available chairs at beach or pool all day.

Nice property, aging facility
Pros:

The property is really lovely; the gardens are beautiful and there’s a variety of wildlife around. The beach was quiet and a bit calmer than our other location in Guanacaste. The facilities are a bit dated - the rooms and pool are showing signs of age/wear. The food was good and portions were generous. Staff was friendly but the pool bar was not routinely staffed while we were there - maybe because the resort wasn’t highly occupied? It was OK but we felt overpriced compared to our other stays.

Cons:

Overpriced for what it was. Beach could have used some clean up (garbage, dead fish)

Mixed reviews - pretty location
Pros:

Breakfast was good. The room layout was nice and we were able to get adjoining rooms. Reception when we arrived was very good - we were greeted with lemonade and cold wash clothes.

Cons:

They never told us when our room was ready. We had to track someone down to ask at 4p. Pool had an inadequate number of chairs - there was plenty of room but very few chairs. There was no way to put a chair on the beach so you had to be in the grass on the property. Once in the water at the beach is was very, very rocky - there could have been an effort to let us know that it was more clear further down the beach. NYE dinner was not good but was very, very expensive. There was no effort put into making NYE special beyond the buffet. There were a stack of hats at reception that never got handed out. Dessert ran out at one point in time. Staffing at the outside pool bar was meh- they didn't clean up the tables leaving dirty tables for hours. At times it was hard to find someone to help you. When the pool bar was closed it was hard to figure out if you could even get a cocktail someplace else. There was no lotion in the rooms which seems like a low bar for a room that was relatively pricey.

Cons:

The fountain area is a bit dangerous with kids or if you have been drinking. The price was too much not really luxury like that. Food was average and expensive

Pros:

Papagayo Golden Palms Beachfront Hotel is a wonderful resort with wonderful staff! The hotel is clean, rooms are spacious, quiet and private and felt like we were tucked away by the beautiful landscape and gardens. The pool was big and relaxing, the beach access is such a bonus too! There were chairs to sit on and relax by the beach as well as hammocks. Breakfast was delicious! My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff was so accomodating, pleasant and really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Kudos to Daniela, Carlos, all the restaurant staff and drivers who helped us. Our stay in Costa Rica was memorable because of their warm hospitality!
