The staff were fantastic, and the location was absolutely breathtaking
Location, atmosphere, decor fabulous room
Nothing to dislike
Lovely quiet location. Good choice for breakfast. Lovely view from room. Good menu. Pleasant service.
Can't think of anything we didn't like !!
Eine ganz außergewöhnliche Lage
Das Haus ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen und das Frühstück hätte besser sein können
The scenery was amazing
The hotel is in need of McDonald's spending money on it for a refurbishment, room wasnt very clean cobwebs and dated, the price i paid i feel was over the top, breakfast was just ok and you were expected to pay a supplementary price for eggs Benedict, Latte or Cappuccino.
The location is wonderful, on the banks of Ullswater lake and the staff are friendly and helpful. There's a lot of lounges to sit in if the weather is dull, alternatively you can have afternoon tea on the terrace if the weather is nice.
The house itself is in need of maintenance, a paint job and replacement of railings to bring it up to its former glory. The room service menu is pricey for what you get.
The setting is stunning
Beds were comfortable
Food was ok
Hotel is looking very tired and run down
Location
This hotel is in a lovely location and the staff were very helpful and attentive.
The hotel and bedrooms are extremely tired and in urgent need of renovation. We also encountered several cleanliness issues in our room, including cobwebs, dirty tiles, and broken taps.
We raised these concerns with management during our stay, but unfortunately received no response. At £540 for two nights, we did not feel this represented good value for money.
The location is undoubtedly excellent, but it seems the hotel may be relying too heavily on this rather than maintaining acceptable standards of accommodation and customer service. Sadly, based on our experience, we would not stay here again.
Lovely location with very attentive staff and first class food. Beds and pillows were super comfortable and room spacious. Great garden to allow our Labrador to run around off the lead.
Windows looked like they were in need of a good clean.
The location is amazing and its not far (20 mins drive) from the M6. The views unsurpassed. The old school ambience is very relaxed. Its a little tired but it works if you just embrace it. With investment it could rival the Langdale Chase which is three times more expensive. Great cocktails and stunning short walk to the Lake.
Its £20 extra per dog per night. We have 2. We had to ask for dog bowls and beds, which they provided but it wasnt offered. For £40 a little preparation and thought, perhaps a few dog treats too (which is to be expected) would make us feel that dogs are welcome.
We received a warm greeting at the hotel, the room was as expected and the staff had kindly set out a slate with birthday wishes for my husband. The towels had been arranged in the shape of 2 swans accompanied by a hand written card. Such a kind gesture.
The room was clean and had a garden access - the lake was just a short distance from our accommodation.
The team in the restaurant were excellent during the two days of our stay. In particular a waiter - Maciek was outstanding. He had well developed interpersonal skills and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and we could certainly not find any fault for our trip.
The manager was engaging and keen to learn if their was any room for improvement by actively seeking feedback about our experience.
The building is very historical and the staff work tirelessly to show it at it's best. We certainly enjoyed using the lounges, staff were attentive and checked in to see if we needed any drinks or food, without being prompted.
The hotel could benefit from some attention due it's age but I would be more than happy to visit again.
It had character and was in a nice location with nice views
Our room was boiling hot without any air con or access to turning the heaters off, very dated and dusty
Such a charming house with stunning views. We loved how secluded it was and that there was a little private area of the lake with chairs, perfect for relaxing after dinner. Close enough to be able to drive to towns such as Keswick, Ambleside and Windermere. Delicious food in the restaurant although quite pricey if you eat there everyday. All the staff treated us with special attention, asking about our stay, being so friendly and helpful, even offering recommendations for local places to visit. Special thanks to Mat who went above and beyond to make our stay super memorable.
Nothing to note, we loved everything about it!
The garden
Tired and shabby. Poor menu choice. Food quality poor and very overpriced.
