The atmosphere
Left early but had substitute left in fridge which was great for the road
We enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent with lovely grounds. The bedroom was spacious and clean with lovely linen and towels.
I’m sure there must have been a way of turning off the motion sensor light in the bathroom, but that was a pain! The drinks were expensive, but I guess that’s the “norm” now. However, £12.75 for a glass of Cremant seemed excessive.
Very good breakfast, I am type 2 diabetic and sourdough bread was brought in especially.
Upgraded to a lodge for an extra £80 per night. Great evening meal. Good breakfast choices. They catered for my wife's gluten and dairy free needs.
The stone tiles made some of the furniture a little wobbly. We mentioned this to the manager and suggested a few felt pads would help.
Convenient location for stop over
Noisy close to main road
Staff where amazing, really made our anniversary memorable.
The bed was an absolute dream so comfy, room was lovely and spacious.
Was a bit concerned on arrival with ear buds being provided but the Room was very quiet at night no need to use them
Breakfast was amazing staff very lovely and went above and beyond what we expected.
Duvet was a little bit to warm for my liking
A wonderful B&B, full of home comforts with lovely staff, beautiful gardens and peacocks.
Staff were excellent but let down by the inadequate kitchen abilities
Variation of the menu and informed that the chef couldn’t produce garlic mushrooms
This is a beautiful property with excellent staff that made you feel welcome. The hotel is situated close to the A38 and a great base to explore Devon. The grounds are also well maintained with a lake and resident peacock adding to their beauty . We visited in January and although very cold outside the hotel and rooms were warm. The room we had was lovely and clean and the bed was one of the comfiest we’ve slept in.
There wasn’t anything to dislike about the property
Very clean and comfortable place to stay. Excellent food both evening and breakfast. Room was very well put together, well decorated and comfortable. The property is ideally located close(ish) to the main route but not disturbed by it.
A Masterclass in Neglect
This establishment manages to provide the price point of a full-service hotel with the amenities of a derelict building.
The room was functionally hollow: no television, no kettle, no coffee, and no heating in the bathroom. Furthermore, the electrical outlets were non-functional, rendering personal grooming items useless.
The service in the restaurant was equally failing. Despite booking a specific table in advance, I was denied it upon arrival. The table in question remained vacant for the entirety of my 1 hour and 56-minute meal, suggesting the refusal was born of pure systemic incompetence rather than necessity.
When these issues were raised, management was predictably disinterested and offered no apology. This is not a hospitality business; it is a landlord for discomfort.
Avoid.
