Great location for a customer I have nearby. Can't fault it, neat and clean and cheap.
The welcome from the Hotelier was quite pleasant. Having a Fridge in the room was good to keep the milk & our drinks chilled. The Continental Breakfast was very basic but enough to break a fast ;-) ( A Cooked Breakfast would have been more welcoming )
The Hotel is a "Pay on Arrival" Hotel, but the payment was actually taken 24hrs prior to Arrival !!!! (not a big deal really, but not what the booking system implies) The Room(2) given looked like it was a Disability Access Room but in reality isn't suitable for Disabled Occupants ( I am able-bodied, but still found it cramped & certainly not a room suitable for a Wheelchair User as there is very little space between the base of bed & Bathroom Door !!!! (Sliding Bathroom Door was too stiff to move easily & a Disabled Occupant would struggle to move the Sliding Door. ) The Emergency Lighting (Green illumination by door inside room) stays on all night as does a dim white light in Bathroom that makes sleeping in Darkness impossible !!!! The Bed was quite lumpy !!!! The TV Remote didn't work but luckily the TV did have manual buttons to switch on TV & change channels/volume etc. Restaurant was closed due to Hoteliers Wife being away at a function, Hotel is well off the beaten track so if you needed to eat it needed a car trip. ( Not a Good Value stay @ £79.00 for 1 night !!!! )
The room we slept in was fine and the food was good. The breakfast on the second morning was fine.
We had stayed in the Neuk a few years ago and it was fine so we decided to rebook. However it has went downhill during this time. There is a big lack of selection of drinks at the bar and many items from the menu was unavailable. The room wasn't ready which was odd as it should have been ready at 3pm and we didn't turn up to 5pm. The milk was off and out of date for our breakfast and when we looked for a member of staff to let them know there was no sign of anyone. There was butter but no crossoint or bread. On the second day there was so I presume they had forgotten to put in for first morning.
The propetier seemed depressed. Money was meant to be paid or arrival, but it had come off the day before.
This is not a stay for everyone. This is a place full of character and foibles. Forget the pub menu and the beers you see, fish is only on a Thursday and what is available and on tap is unpredictable! The landlord is friendly but abrupt. The locals were very very friendly and chatty, a good bunch. The room we had was large, with a huge bed, good bathroom and clean. A short walk away were spectacular cliffs and rocky coves, a place to sit awhile.
These old pubs are dying - if you like things a little different, a little unpredictable - then support the Neuk, I will go again.
An out of the way delight a few steps from the cliffs and a small cove. It's quiet here, very country, very far from the madding crowd. And the food was absolutely amazing!!! The rooms were essential, clean and comfortable.
This is an inn with three rooms in an attached building. The wifi is in the inn and the building are solid stone so the wifi only works well in the bar. Which works fine for me.
Bars patrons are friendly.
They do want cash. Usually, I like to barter a bit in such situations, seeing as thats what I do. However, I also shut my mouth and go with the flow sometimes :)
Nice peaceful location. There was a pub on site where you could buy a meal. We didn't use this as we were visiting family nearby and ate at their home, so can't comment on the quality.
Also there were picnic tables outside .
Continental breakfast in room was adequate.
Bathroom had a bathtub with shower. My husband has reduced mobility and it was difficult to get in to shower.
Very poor cleanliness- shower head grime and just not a clean bathroom or room, hairs and towels smelt of cigarettes and smoke. Didn’t sleep well at all as bed was creaking constantly and really uncomfortable, the sheets weren’t clean and noise from anything outside was loud as the window wouldn’t shut completely. The worst place I’ve stayed in, in a while.
Great little pub by the North Sea. Friendly vibe in the bar. Room was very basic but comfortable and clean. We had a great time talking to the locals in the bar.
Nothing. All good.
Comfortable bed
Breakfast was minimal, half used jar of jam included
Welcome was poor - we nearly felt we were an inconvience
Cleanliness could be improved greatly
Strong smell of cigarette smoke in room - unpleasant
The breakfast was disgusting
Everything
Quaint, friendly, and value for money. Gerry and May couldn't do enough for you, and the food was out of this world. The locals were hilarious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Nothing it was great value for money
Die Kühe direkt um die Ecke und die Klippen nur ein paar Meter zu Fuß entfernt, wunderbar!
Nicht weit weg vom Meer.
Internet nur in der Pub. Nicht im Zimmer
